The email from Canvasdiscount.com couldn’t have come at a better time. I had been thinking of having a photo of Allegra and Ruby enlarged and framed, so when they asked me to review some of their products, I jumped at the chance.Continue Reading
I’ve always felt that writers and cats are the purrfect combination. I’m not sure I could write anything worth publishing without the assistance of Allegra and Ruby, and I certainly never would have written Buckley’s Story or started The Conscious Cat if it hadn’t been for Buckley and Amber. Writers and Their Cats celebrates this special relationship.Continue Reading
It’s been looking a lot like Christmas on our Facebook page lately, as many of our friends have been posting photos of their Christmas kitties. Take a little break from your holiday preparations and enjoy these beautiful photos – and please share your Christmas kitties on our page as well!Continue Reading
Yes, I need more of your cat photos! First of all, thank you to all of you who have submitted photos of your torties for Tortitude: The Little Book of Cats With a Big Attitude. I received close to a thousand photos, and I loved “meeting” all of your torties. It was really hard to reduce the number of photos to only about 75 – if I could, I would use all of them! My publisher will have final say as to which of the photos will be used in the book, which will publish in February of 2016.
I’m sure it comes as no surprise to anyone reading this blog that we love our pets. Just how much do we love them? Pictarine, a multi-platform app that allows you to order prints of your favorite photos from your phone and pick them up at your local Walgreens or Duane Reade store, recently announced the results of their survey around American consumers and pet photography.Continue Reading
How many photos and videos of your cats do you have on your computer, tablet and phone? I have several thousand photos of Allegra and Ruby on my computer, and I don’t ever want to lose those photos, and the memories that are attached to them. Thankfully, there are a lot of different options to keep cat photos and videos safe forever. I use multiple back up modalities: I back up to an external hard drive, to a thumb drive, and to cloud (online) storage.Continue Reading
Anji Martin is a Washington DC based photographer who specializes in wedding photography, portraits – and cats. Her company, Potok’s World Photography, is named after her beloved cat Potok, who was her best friend. Potok passed away in October of 2013.
Anji’s cat photos are absolutely stunning. She has a way of capturing her feline subjects’ unique personalities. I was delighted to get a chance to ask Anji some questions about cat photography.Continue Reading
When it comes to unusual feline lifestyles, Bailey, a three-year-old seal point Siamese, is leading quite the life. Bailey lives on board a 37-foot yacht just outside Rome, Italy, with his human guardians. Bailey has been cruising the Mediterranean since 2011. His adventures were first chronicled on his blog, which was the basis for Bailey Boat Cat: Adventures of a Feline Afloat. Eventually, Bailey hopes to cruise around the world with his two humans.Continue Reading
Not too many people know that I like heavy metal music. Actually, I like pretty much every genre of rock, from classic to alternative to yes, heavy metal. But rock music and cats don’t always go together, especially since most cats don’t like loud noises (I make sure I only blast my music at top volume when I’m in my car, away from Allegra and Ruby’s sensitive ears.) I definitely never thought I’d ever see a book that combines two of my loves: cats, and heavy metal music.
Just in time for Easter comes a guilt and calorie-free treat: Bunnies and Kitties: A Cuddly Collection of Fur and Friendship presents more than one hundred adorable photos of cats, kittens and bunnies. All of the photos are paired with sometimes sweet, sometimes silly captions, and you can’t help but smile at some of the unlikely friendships portrayed in this little book. A few of the photos are almost ridiculously cute.Continue Reading
The press release for this book came with an appropriate warning: “Some material in these books may be too cute for human consumption. Reader discretion is advised.” And the press release didn’t lie: this little book redefines cute.Continue Reading
