No matter how much any of us think we know about cats, they will always remain just a little mysterious. And while there are explanations based on behavioral science for many of their habits that we may think of as odd, I would be that for every weird feline habit explained, there’s another quirky one that defies logic. In Making’ Biscuits: Weird Cat Habits and the Even Weirder Habits of the Humans Who Love Them, Deborah Barnes explores the lighter side of feline behavior.
Makin’ Biscuits is a collection of stories from cat lovers around the world who shared their feline family members’ antics and oddities with the author. From boxes to plastic bags to a fascination with water, from litter box behavior to decorating your home with cats in mind, the stories in this book will touch your heart, make you smile, and at times shake your head in wonderment.
Each chapter contains a “Mews from Others” section, where cat guardians share information relevant to the topic being discussed, as well as a “Purr Points to Ponder” section where Barnes offers explanations and suggestions for solutions.
Illustrated with beautiful photos with humorous captions, Makin’ Biscuits provides an entertaining look at feline behavior, but don’t be deceived by the lighthearted tone of this book. Deborah Barnes provides solid, well researched information for cat parents who are trying to understand their feline charges better. This book is a valuable addition to anyone’s cat care library.

We posted our review last Monday and we absolutely LOVED this book!
As always, LOVED your review!! Cody was a great help, too!!
This book looks cute. I like the picture that says waddya mean we don’t get fed quicker by being on the counter. i tell my cats they don’t get fed quicker by digging their nails in my legs as I am getting theri bowls ready. Or when they try to trip me on my way to the kitchen.
Janine – MOL…yes! I always marvel anytime I make it to the kitchen without injury! My gang of seven make it nearly impossible to walk without falling flat on my face!
Thanks for the review. Sounds like a good book.
Thanks Sue! So far it’s been very well received!
Thank you for the review Ingrid – the more I compiled stories for the book, the more I became fascinated with cat behavior and it all took shape from there. I’m so pleased to be able to provide cat guardians not only an entertaining book, but one that educates at the same time.
I know I’ll never look at my cats the same now that I understand a bit more about what makes their little minds tick, and I also know they will forever fascinate me! For example, that picture of them on the counter – it doesn’t matter that my gang has been well fed every single day of their lives – they still jump while I get their food ready, thinking I will feed them quicker that way!
Thank you again for the review!
added to my Amazon wish list. . . I am subscribed to her blog as well. . . ♥♥♥
Thank you Diane – I appreciate you following my blog and hope you’ll be able to get the book one of these days! I think you’ll really enjoy it!
