I didn’t have cats until after I graduated college, but this time of year, I often think about how hard it must be for students to leave their cats behind when they go back to school. Students at SUNY Canton in northern New York don’t have to make that choice: the college has a pet-friendly residence hall where 100 cats live with their students. Each student is allowed one pet. The college doubled its pet-friendly rooms this year. For more about this program, please visit
