Ultimately, Tortitude is a tribute to these special cats and their passionate guardians.

Jackson Galaxy has this to say about Tortitude:

“To call torties misunderstood would be the understatement of the year; the misinformed and un-initiated might just see them as moody, grouchy or mean! In this book, Ingrid brings all of her talent, skill and heart to the job of setting the tortie record straight. Anybody who has had the honor of sharing their life with a tortie (like me, as you can see from these pictures of my dear, departed Chuppy) owes Ingrid a debt of gratitude, because she has taken the stereotype, turned it on its head, and opened the world’s eyes to the true meaning of tortitude.”

49 Comments on Giveaway: Tortitude: The BIG Book of Cats With A BIG Attitude

  1. I have been ‘owned’ by Calicos and Torties. I definitely believe in ‘Tortitude’. I have your other books and would love to add this one to my collection.

  2. I have an 8-year-old Tortie – my first and definitely not my last. She’s a beautiful girl; I would never describe her as grouchy or mean, but rather deeply affectionate, loyal, and chatty.

  3. I’d like to win because cats are my favorite animals in the whole world and I never want to be without one!

  4. I would love to read the “Tortitude” book! My sweet “Torti” is 11 years young and was rescued as a kitten from a ferral mom. It took a lot of time and tlc for her to warm up to us. She loves her condo and window perch out in the sun room, loves to play with her bird wand toy and lay on the throw on my lap. She’s my sweet girl!

  5. We inherited a gorgeous tortie many years ago and she definitely has some kind of ‘tude. Would love to read and learn about this attitude that seems to be unique to the tortie.

  6. I love Torties. My friend has two Torties and they really do have tortitude. I would enjoy reading about Torties and sharing the book with her.

  7. When I adopted Sophie, my tortie, I was unfamiliar with this breed and since then, have read everything I can about torties. They are truly an enigma but one that always keeps me guessing. I love this little gal so much and enjoy every minute she will give me of “her time.” I keep hearing about “Tortitude” and would be thrilled to read and review it. Learning more about Sophie is like working a puzzle. Thanks for the chance.

  8. I had a tortie myself many years ago who I loved very much. I still think of her often and miss her a lot. She had a lot of tortitude.

  9. I’ve been a subscriber for a while now. A few weeks ago I became owned by a tortie. A co-worker’s family member was looking to rehome a cat. My cat Milla and I were looking for a new family member. It was kismet. Lulu, the tortie, is a petite girl; much smaller than Milla. What Lulu lacks in size she more than makes up for in tortitude! She’s quickly becomming the dominate one in our household.

  10. After 15 years of volunteering at an animal shelter, I can’t generalize about coat color and behavior anymore! I’d love to read the book.

  11. My tortie,Susie, was a stray kitten who I found outside my house…She let me know in no uncertain terms that she was coming inside the house with me!…She has been here ever since,11 years…The naughtiest thing she does is sit in a certain spot and bop the other cats on the head as they walk past her…It really doesn’t hurt them and I can’t seem to talk her out of it….also if she wants petted YOU WILL PET HER! lol

    • Hi, Nancy! Your tortie, Susie, sounds like she has an adorable personality. Her “demanding” to be petted is so funny. My tortie, Sophie, will come up to my legs and bop her head against them and demand to be petted. Aren’t they the most precious kitties? I love them.

  12. Oh my goodness! I have to have this book so I can read it to SaraLee! She’s our Tortie (looks a LOT like Ruby and Allegra). We have had her 2-1/2 years and she is a shelter cat. Loves belly rubs and brushes with a wire brush. All I have to say is, “SaraLee…Belly?” and she comes running and throws (yes) herself on the foyer rug and here we go! Pet her – sure — pick her up NO. She prefers Jeff, my husband, over me. Probably because I cannot keep my hands off of her! I would love to win this book.

  13. I don’t know what it is about torties that makes people think they are any less loving than other cats, I guess the unique coloring throws people. I think they’re lovely.

  14. I would LOVE to get a copy because I have a dilute tortie, Gabby, who, when I rescued her, was one of the most attitudinal creatures ever. Now, 2 1/2 years later, she is my cuddlebug. It would be awesome to see if other torties were as successful as my Gabby is in training her humans.

  15. I love cats and cat books. I have a 1 year old wonderful tortie who had been “dumped” in our field. She is much loved. I would enjoy this book about torties.

  16. This book looks amazing. I read a lot and would love to learn more about our fuzzy overlords or just have a nice read.

  17. I would like this because my daughter and I love learning all about cats. We watch a lot of Animal Planet. I am sure we would enjoy this book.

  18. I just came across your site somewhat recently and have been enjoying your posts and articles. I love all cats and have been the lucky owner of two tortie cats…although my last tortie just passed away a few month ago after 17yrs with me. So excited for a chance to win this book! Thanks! 🙂

  19. I have a Tortie of my own and her name is Lizzie. She’s about 8 years old and she’s lovely! Would to win this book!

  20. Where I work there is a Tortie feral cat that lives on the premises. I feed her every evening when I leave for work. She lets me pet her, but not pick her up. Another co-worker feeds her every morning. Before I knew about her, she was neutered by yet another co-worker. I love this cat and would take her home in a heartbeat, except that my Ben has cancer and I won’t do anything that will add stress to his life. I don’t know that capturing her and taking her to a shelter would be an improvement to her life.

  21. My Seven is a Ragdoll Seal Point Tortie and she does have attitude. Would love to have this for my tabletop collection.

  22. I love all tortie cats ! So beautiful !
Oh, and I love to read too ! Just finished Oliver the Cat Who Saved Christmas on your recommendation. Very cute.

  23. I’ve never had a tortie, but love reading about yours 🙂 In the future I think I’d love to adopt one. Thanks for the opportunity.

  24. Have just rescued my second Tortie an would love to more about these amazing cats from someone who has so much insight on these beautiful cats

    • I have a Tortie, and does she have tortitude!! Lots if it! She’ll let you pet her, but only for short periods of time. When she’s had enough, she’ll scratch your face off! And you never know when she’s going to do that. But I love her to bits. I also LOVE to read. And books with cats in them are the best! I would love to have this book.

  25. Cats and books are some of my favorite things. I have never had a torti, but I find them to be so beautiful. I would love to add this book to my collection to be able to open it and look at these beauties any time I want.

  26. Repost!
My Calico/Tortie, Schrödinger, is a very unique cat and continues to become more of a special individual as she gets older (she’s 15). She’s been with me since she was eight weeks old; I love her with all of my heart and always will. She had informed me that she will continue to become more of a cantankerous old lady (HER words) but I’d love to do whatever I can to try to bring a little happiness to her final years with me. I believe this book would help me to gain a bit of insight to my fur-baby’s twisted sense of, well, everything.
    Thank you for this opportunity.

  27. “Let me know why you’d like to win an autographed copy of Tortitude.” My cat is a torti and she insists that only autographed books will do.

  28. My Calico/Tortie, Schrödinger, is a very complicated kitty, especially as she gets older (she’s 15 now). She’s an amazing creature and I love her with all of my heart. I’d give anything to be able to understand more about her and perhaps be able to make her last years with me happier.
