PawNatural Shopping At Only Natural Pet: Cat Products You Can Trust

cat_computer_monitor

I’ve been a customer of Only Natural Pet for the last ten years. Few online retailers provide such a large variety of products that don’t just feature a “natural” label, but actually live up to the claim.

Only Natural Pet was founded in 2004, when CEO Marty Grosjean realized that if he thrived on a natural life, why wouldn’t pets thrive, too? Since then, the natural pet product sector has been growing exponentially, and more companies are jumping on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, “natural” is frequently just a marketing term, and the ingredients of many so-called natural products don’t live up to the fancy language on the labels.Continue Reading

Review: Litterbiotic Cat Litter Deodorizer

Litterbiotic

They say cleanliness is next to godliness, and that is never more true than when it comes to your cat’s litter box. A dirty litter box is a common reason why cats will eliminate outside the box – and can you blame them? How would you like to use a toilet that hasn’t been flushed in days?

I am meticulous about scooping our litter boxes. Since I work from home, I usually scoop as soon as Ruby or Allegra have deposited something in the box, so litter box odors aren’t much of an issue at our house. But even if you’re not home all day, at a minimum, the litter box should be scooped twice a day.Continue Reading

Coming Soon: Kathy Ireland Loved Ones Pet Products

Kathy_Ireland_Loved_Ones

Of all the new products I saw at Global Pet Expo two weeks ago, the new line of pet products developed by former super model turned business mogul Kathy Ireland was the biggest surprise for me. I honestly didn’t expect much from this line. I figured it was simply another celebrity putting her name on a line of ho-hum, mediocre products. I couldn’t have been more wrong.

The cat products in the Loved Ones™ pet product collection are extremely well designed. Continue Reading

Review: Spenser Pets Self-Warming Cat Bed

cat_bed

Allegra and Ruby are always eager to assist with product reviews, but reviewing the self-warming cat bed from Spenser Pets was the first time I asked them to be asleep on the job – and they were very happy to oblige!

Spenser Pets believes that pet furniture should be as stylish as people furniture, and they’ve certainly achieved that goal with this beautiful cat bed. Ruby asked for the pink color (well, okay, I did!). Continue Reading

Jackson Galaxy and Petmate Introduce New Line of Cat Toys at Global Pet Expo

Petmate_Jackson_Galaxy_toys

Of all the products I wanted to see at Global Pet Expo, I was most excited about getting a first look at the new line of toys created by Jackson Galaxy. Jackson introduced the concept of “hunt, catch, kill, eat” in his wildly successful Animal Planet show My Cat From Hell. The concept revolutionized life for countless cats who had previously been bored house cats with behavioral challenges. Jackson taught cat guardians that cats need an enriched environment and play time to be happy. So if anyone knows how to design the ultimate cat toy, it would be Jackson, right?Continue Reading

Global Pet Expo 2014 Highlights

giant kitten

I spent Wednesday through Friday in Orlando, FL, at the Global Pet Expo. This is the largest trade show of pet products anywhere in the world. There were close to 1,000 exhibitors in almost 3,000 booth in the Orange County Convention Center.

In the coming days and weeks, I’ll be bringing you lots of cool information about some of the amazing products I saw there, including my choice of best new cat product. Today, I’m sharing some of the highlights of my personal experience with you.

There were two product lines I had been most curious about: The Jackson Galaxy Collection of cat toys developed by Jackson in partnership with Petmate, and the Kathy Ireland Loved Ones pet product collection. I’ll be sharing more details about both collections in a future post. Here’s a sneak peek at The Jackson Galaxy Collection:Continue Reading

Giveaway: Drinkwell All-Ceramic Pagoda Cat Fountain from MyThreeCats.com

Drinkwell_Cat_Fountain

Fountains are a great way to encourage cats to drink more water. Water is critical to keeping your cat healthy. While cats get moisture from a raw or canned diet, they should still have plenty of fresh water available at all times. Cats as a species don’t have a high thirst drive, and this can lead to chronic low-level dehydration if a cat is fed mostly dry food, which in turn, can lead to urinary tract and kidney problems.

The problem with many inexpensive fountains is that they’re made from plastic. Plastic can harbor bacteria even after regular cleaning. Ceramic fountains are much easier to clean, and safer for your cats. Drinkwell fountains were designed by a veterinarian, and have been available in plastic, stainless steel (with some plastic parts) and partial ceramic. Last year, Drinkwell came out with two models that are 100% ceramic.Continue Reading

Raphaël Vavasseur’s unique cat paintings captured my attention on Facebook, and I wanted to learn more about this talented artist, and where his inspiration for these stunningly gorgeous paintings comes from. I’m delighted to introduce you to Raphaël and his art today. Raphaël Vavasseur spent the first 25 years of his life in Paris, France, where he also went to graphic design and art school. He eventually interrupted his studies and focused on creating and becoming self-taught in both computer graphics and painting. Feeling a need for nature and more space, he moved to the countryside of Normandy. The tranquility and fresh air of this bucolic region of France promote his creativity. Continue Reading

SwiPets_pet_hair_remover

I’m always a little skeptical when I hear claims like “world’s best product.” But sometimes, a product really does live up to its claim, and the SwiPets Pet Hair Removal Product is one of those products.

This clever product is nothing more sophisticated than a glove. You can’t get much simpler than that, right? The glove is made from a blend of spandex and nylon, coated with what the company calls a “high tech coating” said to effortlessly remove pet hair from furniture, clothing and hard to reach places with a simple swipe of your hand.

And boy, does it work! Continue Reading
