Siamese Cat Rescue is one of the largest and most successful breed specific rescue organizations in the US. Based in Virginia, the group has saved over 12,000 cats in 15 states over the last 20 years, and is still going strong. Rescue Meez: My Journey Through Siamese Rescue is founder Siri Zwemke’s personal memoir about  how her love for Siamese cats ended up becoming a full time job.

The book offers an inside look at what it’s really like to rescue cats. Told with warmth and humor, Zwemke’s accounts of her adventures will have you laugh and cry, sometimes at the same time. You’ll fall in love with many of the cats whose stories often start with sadness and heartbreak, but frequently have the happiest of endings, thanks to the dedication of the author.

Zwemke persevered, often at great personal sacrifice, to build Siamese Cat Rescue into what it is today. She is honest and realistic about the challenges this work brings, but through it all, you can feel the passion that fuels her and keeps her going when lesser humans would have given up.

If you’ve ever thought of wanting to start a rescue, you owe  it to yourself to read this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I found myself in awe of the author’s devotion to every single cat she has rescued. This book will leave you feeling that anything is possible when good people get together to make a difference.

Rescue Meez sounds like a very interesting book. The author must have been and probably still is a true lover of Siamese cats; a very noble undertaking and I give the utmost praise for your dedication and hard work. You’re quite a creation of G d and may he continue to bless both you and your work.

I would enjoy this book. I do not have a rescue but have done TNR out of pocket for wall over 20 years. I was inspired by a ‘meezer’ too. Tan’na was my muse.
It has its heartbreaks but also so many joys. I sit here today with one of the feral (former) in my lap who was too medically needy to find a home for after socializing!

This book is a wonderful recollection of the triumphs and trials of rescue. I am so proud to have been a tiny part of Siri’s endeavors in saving over 12,000 worthy cats and kittens. It was a nostalgic look back at some of the great characters that came through rescue. I hope that many more cats can be saved. It’s been a rewarding journey so far.

Thanks for the recommendation! I wish I had read this book prior to helping a rescue. I learned it all as I went along. But even though there is heartbreak, there are so many incredible stories of happy endings.
