Dr. Tony Buffington is cat royalty. His business card reads ” Effective Environmental Enrichment Evangelist” – because that’s what encompasses what Dr. Buffington’s work has been all about for the last three decades: improving the lives of cats.
He is an emeritus professor of veterinary clinical sciences at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, a clinical professor (volunteer) at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and an honorary research fellow at the University of Bristol, School of Veterinary Sciences. He received bachelors, masters and PhD degrees in nutrition and the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from UC Davis, and is board-certified in veterinary nutrition. His clinical interests include developmental origins of health and disease, stress effects on disease, obesity, evidence-based medicine, and effective medical communications. His research has documented the effects of environmental stressors on disease in cats, and the role of effective environmental enrichment in mitigating them to promote recovery. Dr. Buffington has published more than 120 scientific papers, 30 book chapters, and 3 books.
The Cat Feeding Survey
Dr. Buffington’s latest research project looks at how cat parents feed their cats, and you can help him by filling out a brief survey. The results of this study may be published as part of the research team’s efforts to improve the health and welfare of cats. The survey should take no more than 10 minutes of your time.
Requirements for you to participate in the survey are:
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must be the primary caregiver of at least one cat. This cat must spend at least some time inside of your house.
- If you have multiple cats, please fill out this survey for only for the cat whose name begins closest to the beginning of the alphabet.
