Review and Giveaway: Simple Solution 30-Day Litter

IMG_9454_lowres

There were a lot of innovative new cat litters at Global Pet Expo, from alternative litters made from corn, recycled paper and walnuts to more environmentally friendly and lighter weight clay litters. One of the most intriguing new litters I saw was the new Simple Solution 30-Day Litter.

I’m well aware of the controversy around clay litter, but I’ve found that many cats don’t like the alternative litters. And no matter how much the human “in charge” may like the idea of these more environmentally friendly litters, ultimately, the cat calls the shots!

Simple Solutoin 30-Day Litter is a clay litter, but unlike traditional bentonite clay litters, it is made from attapulgite clay, a unique lightweight mineral that attaches to, absorbs and traps moisture and odor from both urine and feces. According to the manufacturer, this litter is 300% more absorbent than regular litter, and, since it’s not a clumping litter, you only have to scoop feces. Urine is simply absorbed by the litter. The litter is lighter weight than regular clay litter, and the texture is softer, which makes it gentler on sensitive kitty paws. It also tracks less than regular litter.

This product has some dust, but not any more than some of the premium low-dust clay litters, and definitely less than some of the alternative litters. A 15-pound box should last an entire month, which will mean less money spend on replenishing the entire box with fresh litter.

And it’s pink!

I liked everything about this litter, except the fragrance. The litter has a nice fresh scent, but I’m highly sensitive to scented products and can’t use anything scented around my home. As much as I wanted to like this product, I found the scent overpowering. I hope that Simple Solution will come out with an unscented version of this product. However, if you and your cats don’t mind scented litters, then this litter could be a great choice for you. And here’s your chance to try it for yourself:

Simple Solution Cat Litter Attractant and
Urinary Health Risk Indicator

Simple Solutions also sent me their Cat Litter Attractant and Urinary Health Risk Indicator products. The Cat Litter Attractant is a natural herb blend designed to help prevent and correct litter box problems. The Urinary Health Risk Indicator is a litter additive that will change color to reveal possible urinary tract health issues. I did not test these products, but saw them demonstrated at Global Pet Expo. I was impressed by the Urinary Health Risk Indicator. The dramatic color change makes it easy for cat guardians to detect problems early.

I actually won a box of this in a raffle. I loved it although with a multiple cat household it only lasted for 15 days instead of the 30 days it is touted for. I didn’t find it to be overly perfumed which for me is a good thing. My cats immediately climbed into the box and started using it. I was impressed by it, but can only purchase it in a couple of stores, so that is a deterrent to using it. I do like that it doesn’t clump as this makes it safer for me to use with kittens. I am a foster for a rescue so can safely use this with little ones too.

I have used this cat litter. I have 3 full grown cats and was trying to find something cheaper that would last longer…. instead this litter has a very strong perfume sent… and not being able to scoop the cat urine added an over baring smell… on top of that all 3 of my cats started pooping and peeing on the floor instead of using the litter due to smell…. I recommend Tidy Cats 24/7 Performance – Clumping Cat Litter.. a huge container of it only costs about 13 bucks and my cats use it just fine.. my house doesn’t smell. it lasts my 3 cats about 2 weeks.. hope this helps 🙂

I am looking all over trying to find this so I can try it, I have 2 cats and my friend next door has 5. We have tried so many different types of litter and they all smell horrible or are dusty or both. I can not find this anywhere and I would LOVE to try it !!

I used this kitty litter before it was marketed as 30 day cat litter. It was available at Walmart in Canada and I cleaned out the entire supply in the Vancouver area. Sadly now that is being re-marketed as 30 day litter… Walmart no longer carries it, not in Canada anyways.
I have 9 cats and this stuff is beyond amazing!!!! Even if you do not use this product exclusively, simply adding a couple of handfuls to regular kitty litter extends the life of the litter. It smells very fresh and once a week or so I check their website to see if it has become available in Canada. So far no luck :(. I have even looked for it on ebay and amazon.ca to no avail. I am thinking of asking family and friends if they are in the US, if they will purchase some for me. My last resort is as a birthday present for my upcoming birthday…..Sound ridiculous…try it on your herd of kitties and you will understand!!

I am a breeder of Sphynx, the Hairless Cats. Many types of litters are not compatible with the fact that Sphynx have no hair (on their body or feet) to shield their skin from collecting dust and particles. I have used a corn litter fort some time but recently found it collects bacteria and yeast spores between their toes. I hope my trial with this product will alleviate these problems and I can recommend it to my new kitten buyers.

My babies and I would love to give this a shot. Right now I’m using a cedar alternative, which had been great in reducing amount used monthly and odor; however, dust is still a very real problem. As Mommy guardian and someone with severe lung issues, you can see why I’m always looking to improve their lives and if mine is able to improve along with it, well great!

We’d really like to try this because of the low dust and also just because it sounds so interesting and new. I’d also like an unscented formula but I’m not very sensitive so it should be just fine.

With 5 indoor cats + 2 fosters, I’m always interested in checking out new litter products, especially low dust and light tracking. The fact that the urine is absorbed into the litter is intriguing. Thank you for bring this product to my attention and for the giveaway!

I want to wing because my cat deserves it and she poops and pees to much (in an endearing way, not in a way that people should be worried)

I use Fresh Step now and I like it. I only have to by 38 lbs. a month Which cost the same as one box of Simple Solutions. Yes I’d like to try it for free 1 month to save money. I also have 4 cats that are very fussy about the litter in their litter pan. I usually buy 38 lbs. a month for my 4 cats. But also depends on how often I change their litter too.

Would love to try a lighter litter for Zoe. We are both getting older and it’s hard to carry those heavy boxes home from the pet store! Many of Zoe’s toys and some of her beds are pink so she would love the color and especially the softness!

My babies would like to try this. I am also going to look into that urinary health indicator–i have an older girl thats had some uti issues.

Since I have several cat pans, using this in one would work as a control to see how tehay liked it and its longevity
