Conventional wisdom states that cats don’t like water, but many of our house cats disprove that statement. There are cats who love to play with water, whether it’s in a sink, shower, or their water bowl. When Allegra was a kitten, she would join me in the shower after I turned off the water. Ruby once had a somewhat unfortunate encounter with our shower that ended her fascination with water: she came flying through the crack between the shower curtain and the wall, right into the tub, while I was in the shower. Poor little Ruby tried to jump back out, but lost her footing on the wet bottom. I immediately turned off the water, but she was pretty much soaked by the time she finally got out. In a recent article on Pet Health Network, Ruth McPete, DVM explored why some cats love water and others don’t. Click here to read the full article.
