Fountains are a great way to encourage cats to drink more water. Water is critical to keeping your cat healthy. While cats get moisture from a raw or canned diet, they should still have plenty of fresh water available at all times. Cats as a species don’t have a high thirst drive, and this can lead to chronic low-level dehydration if a cat is fed mostly dry food, which in turn, can lead to urinary tract and kidney problems.

The problem with many inexpensive fountains is that they’re made from plastic. Plastic can harbor bacteria even after regular cleaning. Ceramic fountains are much easier to clean, and safer for your cats. Drinkwell fountains were designed by a veterinarian, and have been available in plastic, stainless steel (with some plastic parts) and partial ceramic. Last year, Drinkwell came out with two models that are 100% ceramic.

The Pagoda Cat Fountain is larger than the previous models. It continuously recirculates 70 ounces of fresh, filtered water. The upper and lower dishes provide two drinking areas for pets, and the patented dual free-falling streams aerate the water for freshness. Like all Drinkwell models, it features replaceable foam filters to catch cat hair and other debris. The fountain’s pump is quiet, and easy to clean.

MyThreeCats.com offers the Pagoda Fountain on sale for $89.95. You can also purchase replacement filters for the fountain.

242 Comments on Giveaway: Drinkwell All-Ceramic Pagoda Cat Fountain from MyThreeCats.com

  1. My three amigos drink lots of water and would love this fountain. Plus, when we go away on vacation, our daughter doesn’t always remember to give fresh water to our babes…this would definitely help assure that they get watered while we are away. Thanks!

  2. Would love to win this for my furbabies. I think it would increase their fluid intake and I would not have to worry about them.

  3. I am SO upset! I very recently bought the stainless steel Drinkwell with the PLASTIC parts! I can’t afford more money on this model but I would love to receive this gift!!! We have four cats.

  4. I love the Drinkwell original, but it is a pain to clean. I would LOVE to have a ceramic one for my furkids! I much prefer to have a source of moving water for them rather than a stagnant bowl, and this new fountain style is simply beautiful.

  5. I would love to win this because one of my cats loves to play in streams of water. He puts his paws in the water and splashes it everywhere. My other cat doesnt drink water much and this may make her want to.

  6. I would like to win this as my two cats love fresh cold water. The ceramic would assist in keeping receptacle clean

  7. Although the plastic Drinkwell we use now works fine, our teenage kittygirl has developed “cat acne” (who knew?!) and also re-occurring ear yeast infections from getting water in her ears. The ceramic version would be so much easier to clean to prevent bacteria and the design looks like it would help with water in the ear problems.

  8. I rescue cats and getting them to drink enough water is critical. Indoor, long hair cats just don’t drink enough water. I’m tired of running the faucet in the bathtub all the time to encourage them to drink. This ceramic fountain would be a lifesaver.

  9. My three cats need a drinking fountain because they don’t like drinking from the three water bowls I have around the house. They prefer to drink out of the kitchen, bathroom, and basement basin, so I have to leave the faucets running all day. Plus, my Ragamuffin cat has had two surgeries due to crystals built up in his kidneys and the vet said he needs to drink a lot of water.

  10. I used a plastic cat fountain for my last cat, but my current cats won’t drink from plastic. I’d love to be able to use a fountain with them, too!

  11. My six wonderful kitties range from 18 to 3 and all of them would love this fountain! The plastic ones leaked & get yucky! My sweet 16 year old Siamese wants to drink from the sink all the time but is too unstable to jump any longer. Winning this fountain would be so special for her!

  12. I have seven kitties and they all are very fussy about their drinking water…they like it clean and fresh. I change the water in their bowls at least twice daily…more if one of them is sitting in front of the bowl giving me “the look” that says, “Can’t you see that I need new water?”. So, I can’t think of anything better than having a bowl that provides fresh water all the time! How totally cool!

  13. We would like a fountain because both of cats, but especially our special needs cat also loves running water. We were planning on buying 2 of them, but it would have to wait a bit due to cost.

  14. I would love one of these. I lost one cat due to a clogged urethra, I hope to avoid another issue in the future with my other baby.

  15. My cats have always been fascinated by running water! All I have to do is turn on the tap and the three of them come running! I’d love to give them the experience of having a permanent flowing water fountain to drink from! *Crossing fingers for the win* 😀

  16. I’m not sure who’d be happier to win this fountain, my three “kid’s” or myself? Thank You for the chance to win! 🙂

  17. I would really love to have this for my cats. They all love drinking from the bathtub faucet (have to leave it dripping to avoid freezing pipes), but with warmer weather I will be shutting it off. The last fountain I tried had a hole in the middle where the water bubbled up, Angel found that she could stick her paw in and shoot water all over the floor. I would like to try this style to see if it makes them happy and is non splashable.

  18. I would love to win this ceramic fountain for my 4 cats so they will drink more water and because it is made of non toxic materials. Thanks for the opportunity

  19. i would love to win this for my cats.they love to get water from the bathroom sink.boy do they ever make a mess.but i dont mind.i love to watch them have fun.they are my best friends. i love them all dearly.like they were my own kids.theres nothing i wouldnt do for them.they are great friends.they give me endless love.they dont belong to me,it is i whom belongs to them.lol what a fantastic idea.the watering fountain. thank you for having such a great giveaway. i hope my kittys win it.

  20. My kittehs would have their own running water to play in/drink from, rather than making a mess around the sink!

  21. I would love this for Jynxx and he really needs a new fountain too. He had kidney stones removed several months ago so this would really help him drink more water.

  22. My cats love running water, but I can’t stand by the sink all day long lol! I tried a plastic water fountain in the past but it leaked all over the floor. This fountain has a stream that falls just like a sink and it’s made of ceramic, so I think this would work for them! Hope we win! 🙂

  23. I would love to be able to provide such an awesome fountain for my kitties. I know they would love it. I have a few who are water bugs they love to play in water. I shared on facebook and twitter.

  24. I’ve had four cats and now my Golden Retriever diagnosed with chronic renal failure. I would love to have this to help them (the cats anyway) drink more water
