Mews and Nips: Santa comes to a shelter, Maru’s best moments of the year, and more

cat_with_Santa_hat

We’ll start our final Mews and Nips of the year with a heartwarming holiday story. An anonymous donor came to the Larimer Humane Society in Colorado a few days before Christmas and paid the adoption fees for all the adoptable cats and kittens at the shelter, including Cody, the handsome 6-year-old boy in the photo above. Read the full story on the Larimer Humane Society Facebook page.

Maru

If you’re a fan of Maru, the world famous Japanese Scottish Fold, you’ll love Catsparella’s delightful round up of The Best Maru Moments of 2012. From Maru in boxes to Maru dancing to Maru wearing a wig, Catsparella’s feature proves that even though other cats have risen to Internet fame over the last twelve months, Maru is still an icon.

Are your cats fascinated by your printer? Ruby comes running whenever she hears mine starting to print. She’s utterly fascinated by it, and especially loves it when I have to open the top to realign the ink cartridges. Enjoy the cats in today’s Cats vs. Printers video. I’m partial to the tortie at the beginning.

Have a great weekend!

You have to admit that printers are strange creatures! Kitshka has been very interested in studying the species lately. Thankfully, the printer stands next to my human’s desk, so she can monitor Kitshka’s, er, enthusiasm 😉

Very nice story about the anonymous donor!

I am so glad none of the Five pay any attention to the printer! I’m usually printing art prints and using expensive paper and the prints take a loooong time, though initially they thought the blue laser dot swinging back and forth inside was where the red laser dot had gone. The tortie at the beginning was way over the top!

Isn’t that little tortie hysterical, Bernadette?

She really is–she actually stood all the way up, and jumped at every noise and then she swatted the mouse! I’d have been laughing too hard to videotape.

What a great idea to pre-pay the adoption fees — it could only mean MORE fur babies being able to be in their new home for Christmas! I loved the Maru post as well — I mean, who wouldn’t positively adore that Maru?? MOL.

I hope lots of cats found new homes before Christmas because of this, Julia.

I guess printers probably rank right behind boxes as far as entertainment value for cats, Esme.

Zoey is the printer fanatic at our house and could spend hours watching and stalking each and every paper that comes out of the printer!! Best Wishes to you all for a Happy New Year from the Zee/Zoey gang!
