I envy people who are talented at arts and crafts. I used to knit in high school and college and actually created some pretty amazing sweaters (that I still own), but once I started living with cats, knitting became challenging, what with the constant batting at the moving needles. The only way I could have knitted was behind closed doors, and since I refuse to exclude my cats from any of my activities, that just wasn’t going to happen. Sadly, I either have no talent in other areas of arts and crafts, or if I do, I haven’t discovered it yet.

Hilary Cairns of The Pineapple Cats only learned Needle Felting a year ago, but when you look at her  felted animal art and pet pillows, you’d think she’s been doing it all her life. Her Etsy Shop is filled with whimsical creations that will be sure to bring a smile.

Hilary has offered one of her cute cat pillows for a giveaway to one lucky reader. I’m guessing that most of us obey the sentiment expressed on the pillow. Read the instructions to enter carefully, they’re a little different from our usual ones.

To enter the giveaway, tell me in a comment whether you do arts and crafts, what you do, and whether you cats help you. Don’t worry, admitting to no talent, like I did, does not disqualify you from winning! For an additional chance to win, tweet about this giveaway or share on Facebook, and post the link in a separate comment. This giveaway is open to readers in the United States and Canada and ends Thursday, August 30.

  1. I love arts and crafts! Sewing, making jewelry, decoupage..,.pretty much anything but knitting and crochet. Two of my three cats love to supervise and will offer ‘paws-on advice.’ My youngest’s favorite role is to sit on my left shoulder and watch. If you could videotape what he sees, it would make a great tutorial because every step would be covered! The only time they aren’t involved is when I’m working on furniture outside. And I hear their opinion of that when I come back in! I really can’t imagine working on something without their involvement.

  2. I love arts & crafts, but unfortunately was not blessed with the talent. I envy those that are so talented and creative! Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  3. I will have to admit I’m not crafty, but i did recently buy a bottle cutter recently to try my hand at making candle holders out of wine and beer bottles, so I’m waiting for this weekend when we have lots of empties after our Labor Day barbecue to try it out.
I know if my cats could read they would want me to place one of these pillows in every room of my house 🙂

  4. My cat Blossom loves to help with crafts and projects! She is particularly adept at holding down construction and tissue paper by sitting on them and she’s a great shredder. Blossom is also very thoughtful in that she moves pipe cleaners, pom poms, and yarn to her secret hideaways behind the couch or under chairs so that I can discover them by accident for later use. She is also handy when I need artificial flowers or leaves snatched from me and dragged through the house at top speed.
