cat with laptop computer

Every week, I come across dozens of cat stories on blogs and social media sites. I share some of these stories on Facebook and Twitter, but I thought it might be fun to do a weekly round up of some of the best stories for you right here on The Conscious Cat.

This week’s stories include Maru, the famous internet sensation, a homeless man and his cat, a cat cuddling with a fawn, funny cats who use correct grammar, and Yoga Cat.

maru new book release

Petside.com reports that Maru, the Scottish Fold cat turned YouTube sensation that has captured the imaginations of over 100 million viewers, now has his own book. I am Maru, scheduled to be released August 23, 2011, is the translated version of his first book, which was previously released in Japan.

In other book and cat related news, a homeless man in London rescued a stray cat and now finds himself with a book deal. According to Catster,

“The two shared Bowen’s meager accommodations as he nursed the cat — whom he had named Bob — back to health with the antibiotics the RSPCA had provided, and sent him on his way. Bowen figured he’d never see Bob again. But then Bowen got a happy surprise. Apparently Bob had become quite attached to his new caretaker. He began following Bowen everywhere he went, including his vendor station near the Angel Tube station in the Islington borough of London.

Bob quickly became a fixture. Customers began stopping to visit with the cat, and because Bowen was earning money by selling The Big Issue, a weekly magazine published as a means for homeless people to earn money and work their way to a more secure future, he has been able to keep Bob well fed. Bob even rides on Bowen’s shoulders when he’s too tired to walk anymore.”

And now Bowen has a book deal. A Street Cat Named Bob: How One Man and His Cat Found Hope on the Streets of London,  will be published by Hodder & Stoughton in March 2012. The book chronicles the adventures — and the healing journey — man and cat shared  through their companionship. Click here to read the full story.

cat with deer

I found this heartwarming photo and story of a cat and a deer having a little afternoon cuddle in a Ukranian zoo on Catsparella. Aren’t they adorable?

Last, but not least, I’d like to leave you with this adorable video of Yoga Cat!

I’m really liking the trend of cats taking over the internet using correct grammer and sentence structure! I always felt deep down, that cats were far more literate than we gave them credit for. They just prefer to keep this a secret, so as to spend more time napping, rather than pounding the keys on the computer!!

I like your internet round-up and thanks for including us. As we’re bombarded with more and more information, I think aggregate info carefully culled from a variety of sources will save time = more time to play with cats!

I’m glad you like the round-up, Layla. Just trying something new, and if it saves my readers time that can then be spent with their cats, all the better!
