Urban Paw: Stylish and Comfortable Pet Beds from a Company That Cares

urban-paw-pet-beds

Ruby was super excited when I told her that the folks at Urban Paw were sending us two pet beds for review. Unlike Allegra, Ruby likes sleeping in the various pet beds we have around the house, and she’s always up for testing new ones. I was also looking forward to getting a look at the beds because I was intrigued with Urban Paw’s company philosophy.

Headed by a mother and son team, Urban Paw’s mission is to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them. In addition to creating comfortable and stylish products for pets, they also strive to to lessen the environmental impact and contribute to the well-being of people and pets. This includes finding alternative materials for their products, such as soy-based rather than petroleum based foam, which reduces toxic emissions  and makes them safer to use.

Urban Paw also wants to help with reducing the number of homeless pets – 10% of all profits generated by Urban Paw are donated to this effort.

Of course, Ruby didn’t really care about all of that – she wanted to try out the beds!

The Luna Orthocomfort Cuddler

sherpa-cat-bed

The Luna Orthocomfort Cuddler is a super cozy sherpa covered bed that I wanted to curl up in myself.  It features a high back wall with extra filling for additonal support and lower front walls for head and neck support, and it is overstuffed for additional comfort. The bottom is made from a dirt and water-resistant oxford cloth. The entire product is washer and dryer safe.

The bed  pretty big, and Ruby may be too much of a lightweight to really get it to stay in its intended position, but that didn’t hinder her enjoyment of this incredibly soft bed. I think it may have been designed more with dogs in mind, but when I explained that to Ruby and told her we were going to donate it to a shelter, she put her paw down, so I think we’ll have to keep it around for a while!

The Milo 2-in-1 Pet House

The Milo 2-in-1 Pet House is a very cleverly designed product that can be a little pet house, but can also be converted into a super soft bed: you simply push down the top, or pop it back out. It has a removable insert that makes spot cleaning easy. The entire pet house is washer and dryer safe.

Ruby hasn’t quite decided whether she likes the Milo better as a pet house or as a bed, so we’ve been going back and forth between the two configurations.

I was also curious to see whether Ruby would have a preference between the two beds, so for a couple of days, I put them next to each other. The Milo, configured as a bed, was the winner.

Just checking out the site. My wife and i recently lost our best friend Abby. She was with us for 14 years and just lost a battle with a upper respiratory infection. I didnt realize how much she affected my life. We both took the day off from work and mourned together. I even cried twice at work today thinking about her ( i am 6ft2inch tall 275lb construction worker). This is the most difficult thing we have been through in a long time. I have been trying to think of alll the good times we had with Abby. She was our travel kitty, our best friend. But everytime i see something of hers in the house, toys, beds, food bowls her bedroom i find myself weeping. she will be missed greatly. Thanks for this. Regards, Santos & Kathie Elmy

I’m so sorry about Abby, Santos. I know how hard it is, and my heart goes out to you and your wife. Perhaps some of the articles in the pet loss section on this site may bring some comfort: http://consciouscat.net/category/pet-loss/

It’s cool that the Milo House can be a little house or a bed. I think Carmine would really like something like that.

I’m glad Ruby is enjoying the beds!
