Help Bring Some Holiday Cheer to Shelter Cats

Santa_Paws_Drive

For most of us, our cats are a big part of our  holiday celebrations, and they probably take having a warm place to sleep and snuggle, plenty of food, and plenty of toys for granted. Thousands of shelter cats aren’t so lucky.

For the past five years, Dorian Wagner, the founder of YourDailyCute.com, has helped bring some holiday cheer to shelter cats (and dogs) with her Santa Paws Drive program. Santa Paws Drive is an online Christmas toy drive dedicated to pets. The inspiration for the drive was “Toys 4 Tots” and other similar programs that collect donations and then distribute them to the needy – and Dorian wanted to do the same for animals.  ” Our ultimate hope is that each of these dogs and cats finds a forever home,” says Dorian, “but if that doesn’t happen, we want our furry friends to wake up on Christmas morning to gifts and toys and treats… and a little extra cash to help the shelters out.”Continue Reading

Maddie’s Fund has earmarked $4 million for this year’s event, which will reach 11 million more people in the following eight metropolitan areas:Continue Reading

Help bring some holiday joy to shelter cats

bring Christmas joy to shelter cats

Shelter cats can only dream of the kind of holidays most of our cats will experience: a warm place to sleep and snuggle, plenty of food, and, for most of us, more toys than our cats will ever know what to do with.

Dorian Wagner, the founder of YourDailyCute.com, believes that shelter animals deserve a little holiday love, too, and in order to make that happen, she founded Santa Paws Drive three years ago. Santa Paws Drive is an online Christmas toy drive dedicated to pets. The inspiration for the drive was “Toys 4 Tots” and other similar programs that collect donations and then distribute them to the needy – and Dorian wanted to do the same for animals.  ” Our ultimate hope is that each of these dogs and cats finds a forever home,” says Wagner, “but if that doesn’t happen, we want our furry friends to wake up on Christmas morning to gifts and toys and treats… and a little extra cash to help the shelters out.”

Each year, the organization picks six shelters. Continue Reading

Those of us who love cats dream of a world in which every cat has a forever home. Maddie’s Fund is trying to make that dream a reality for cats in the San Francisco Bay area this weekend.

Maddie’s Fund®, a foundation funded by the founder of Workday and PeopleSoft, Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, whose mission is to help to create a no-kill nation where all healthy and treatable shelter pets are guaranteed a loving home, is hoping to find homes for all shelter cats (and dogs, too) in a massive adoptathon June 9 and 10. The event is being held at 80 locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, and more than 60 shelters, animal control agencies, and rescue groups are participating. All dog and cat adoptions will be free.

In addition to offering free adoptions, Maddie’s Fund is also donating between $500 to $2000Continue Reading
