Allegra’s World: What’s in a Name?
Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! Mom has been working really hard and I thought I’d give her a break by taking care of today’s post.
I know a lot of you have been asking about me and how I’m doing without my sister. Just like Mom, I’m adjusting to life without our girl, and I’m trying to take care of Mom as best as I can.Continue Reading
Allegra’s World: 10th Adoption Anniversary
Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! Today is my 10th Adoption Anniversary! Ten years ago today, Mom brought me home to live with her and Amber. Sadly, I never got to know Amber really well, because she passed away six weeks after I arrived. Then it was just Mom and me for almost a year before Ruby joined our family.Continue Reading
Allegra’s World: Life Without Ruby
Hi everyone, it’s Allegra! I want to thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown to Mom and me since Ruby passed away. It’s hard to believe she’s been gone for more than a month. Some days it seems like she was just here yesterday. I think Mom still sometimes hopes she’s going to wake up one day and find that these last four months were just a bad dream.Continue Reading

Allegra, Ruby and the Jackson Galaxy Donut Bed Switch

We all know cats are creatures of habit. They tend to follow the same routine day after day, and they don’t much appreciate a disruption of that routine. If you’ve followed me for a while, you also know how much Allegra and Ruby love their Jackson Galaxy Donut Beds – in fact, they love them so much that I had to get a second one to keep the peace!Continue Reading
Cat Sitting Helpers
I enjoy traveling. I love visiting friends, traveling for work, or going somewhere I’ve never been before. In fact, I find that an occasional change of scenery is vital for my mental health. The only hard part about traveling is, of course, having to leave Allegra and Ruby for a few days. A dear friend takes care of the girls while I’m gone, and they couldn’t be in better hands, so that helps a lot. She texts me updates and photos after each visit, and the girls are always super relaxed when I get home.Continue Reading
Cats in the Kitchen
We all know that cats are wonderful household helpers. I don’t know what I’d do without Allegra and Ruby’s assistance with making the bed or doing the laundry. They are particularly helpful in the kitchen.Continue Reading
Sun Puddle Bliss
Like most cats, Allegra and Ruby love their sun puddles. My two little sun worshippers know exactly where in our house the first sun puddle of the day appears, and they tend to follow the sun throughout the day.Continue Reading
Two Cats, One Lap
If you read Allegra and Ruby’s New Year’s resolutions, you already got a hint that Ruby is not thrilled about having to share my lap with Allegra. I’ve often felt that in an ideal cat household, at least from a cat’s perspective, the number of available laps should be equal to the number of cats. Since this is often not the case, some cats have to learn to share human laps. Continue Reading
Allegra and Ruby’s New Year’s Resolutions
I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions. I set intentions for the year instead. I’ve found that it’s a more powerful way to go about making permanent changes in your life, and intentions tend to “stick” better than resolutions, at least for me. However, Allegra and Ruby have been discussing their New Year’s resolutions these last few days, and they’d like me to share their top 3 resolutions with you.Continue Reading
