cats at the Academy Awards Oscars

On Wednesday, Allegra Ruby and I attended a celebrity-studded pre-Oscar Red Carpet Cat celebration coordinated by Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger, and her mom Joanne. This fantastic feline event featured everyone’s favorite cat celebrity, Cat Daddy Jackson Galaxy himself, our friend Kate from Moderncat, and about 300 cats and humans from around the world. As you can see in the photo above, the girls got their bling on and graciously posed for the paparazzi.

Gracey and her mom designed a fabulous Tiniest Tiger Hipster Bag and filled it with all sorts of goodies, including our beautiful Buckley’s Story bookmarks, a bottle of Spirit Essences Stress Stopper, lots of toys, temporary tattoos from Cattoo Designs, and products and coupons from many other sponsors. These bags were gifted to celebrities at the “real” event in Beverly Hills.

As one of the blogs participating in this Red Carpet Cat Blog Tour, we already received our hipster, and let me tell you, it is NICE! Several of these bags were given away during the Twitter party on Wednesday, but fear not, you still have a chance of winning one of these swag filled bags (a $242 value!) right here.

  1. I also shared the give away on Facebook earlier today. Here’s the link:

  2. Hi!

I have many favourite movies but one of my current favourites is Little Miss Sunshine. I love the characters and the story. The movie stirs up many emotions from laughter to tears and never fails to make me feel better. And the acting is just superb!

I’d love to win the Tiniest Tiger Hipster bag – I have been craving for one since I saw it weeks ago. 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity!

  3. Favorite movie: Indiana Jones, Star Wars and Harry Potter.
Cat movie: 101 Dalmations (Siamese cats)

    Clenna at aol dot com

  4. All time favorite movie is Lost boys but as far as Kitty movies I like Alice in wonderland with the Chesire cat (The New one with Johnny Dep) Anything Garfield of course grew up watching him….. Does it have to be a movie with a cat or can it be anything? LOL Mr. Bigglesworth from Austin powers is really cute too. Oh and did you know that Puss in boots originated as a french fairytail?Ok I think I’m gonna stop myself now LOL.

  5. I shared this giveaway on Facebook:

  6. My all-time favorite movie is “Silence of the Lambs” (no kitties, but considering this movie that’s a GOOD thing!)!

    skkorman AT bellsouth DOT net

  7. My favorite movie(s) featuring a cat is the Harry Potter series – Hermione’s cat Cookshanks. In particular in the Prisoner of Azkaban, he knows what’s really going on before any of the people! And he’s just awesome and gigantic!

  8. My favorite cat movie was “The Three Lives of Thomasina” from the sixties. It was so heart warming!

  9. My favorite kitty movie is Disney’s original “The Incredible Journey.” It featured a Siamese cat and one of my first ever kitties was Siamese. He was so sweet! Cinder, my Siamese kitty, would follow me around, walk on a leash, and even sit on the piano while I was playing; listening. He was my baby. I really miss him.

  10. My favorite cat movie “Puss in Boots”! We were only two of three adults in the theater without cats and I think we laughed the hardest! As for regular movies I love “Film Nior” –“Laura” and “The Ghost and Mrs. Muirlier” (sp) are two of my all time favorites!

  11. Wow my favorite movie is really hard to pin down but my favorite cat movie is a bit easier.
“Homeward Bound” has to be my all time favorite because of Sally Field’s voice over for the cat. She has so many great lines in that movie, but of course the one I use all the time and I see others do too; “Cats Rule and Dogs Drool!”
    What a great line.

  12. My favorite cat movie would have to be Puss in Boots! So adorable! Homeward Bound was pretty cute as Sassy

  13. Favorite meowvie with a cat would definitely be Homeward Bound. No matter how many times I see it, I cry…And, of course we all know that “Cat’s Rule, and dogs drool”!!!!

  14. Who else but Garfield!!! Love him! I have a thing for tabbies and he is just such a cutie with a little attitude. But in the end, he loves the people and other animals in his life! 🙂 The Garfield movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt is a classic. My all time favorite movie…Babe!! Talking animals just crack me up!

  15. My favorite movie would probably be Lilo & Stitch (though How to Train Your Dragon comes a very close second). My favorite cat movie, however, is The Nine Lives of Thomasina. I haven’t seen that movie since I was a very little girl…

  16. One of my favorite movies that I can watch over and over is The Empire Strikes Back. I know, total geek but I love it.

  17. I think my favorite movie with a cat in it would probably have to be Shrek 2. I LOVE Puss in Boots! He’s so cute and funny, and I’m really looking forward to seeing “his” movie. (Might be my new favorite cat movie!)

  18. Favorite movie with cat: “The Ladykillers” with feline ‘Pickles’. Pickles is the silent observer of mayhem, and the shot of his ear twitching to reveal an unexpected visitors approach was brilliant.

  20. My favorite cat movie is a old one. “The Three Lives Of Thomasina”. As a kid i loved it so much i named a stray cat i was feeding Thomasina. That cat later gave me Cat Scratch Fever and i was in the hospital for 2 months! Now that is a real cat lover…lol.

  21. My favorite movie was Cats and Dogs. Then they came out with Cats and Dogs 2 and that was cute and funny as well! Kittys take over the world and then the Dogs try to stop us! lol

  22. Favorite movie of all time? Both the Swedish and US adaptations of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I’ve heard that the Dewey book is to be adapted into a movie but it’s been years since any news has come out about this.

  23. I voted and shared on Facebook, you are winning the vote by the wat as of 11:42 CST 02/29/2012. Love reading all your Facebook post. Happy Leap Day Conscious Cat Sunday .
    Summer Sunday

  24. I love this bag!! My favorite movie is The Aristocats, in spanish is just amazing! Also Breakfast at Tiffanys and soooooo many more!!

  25. Let’s see, it must be Cinderella. Lucifer is a bit of a devilish creature, but I think all cats (and all humans) can identify with some part of that. Plus he was very expressive.

  26. My favorite movie is The Lion king! I grew up watching it, and when it was in theaters my mister took me on a romantic date night to go ahead and see it. We brought home a mini poster, hung it up, and held our two girls up to see it. We told Two Face and Batman that they reminded us of Mufasa and Scar at times haha and that they’re just smaller versions of the lions in the film.

However, my favorite film featuring a cat would have to be Stephen King’s Cat’s Eye! It’s so thrilling! I love how General the cat was such a fantastic feline character! His journey to protect a young Drew Barrymore was so exciting to watch, I worried for him through most of the movie.

Another one would have to be Pet Semetary, because Chruch is both adorable and scary at the same time. He was the perfect felin villan!

  27. One of my favorite movies and FAVORITE cat cameos is from the movie MAD HOUSE that stars Dan Akroyd and Kirstie Alley. It’s an 80’s flick about a couple (Dan & Kirstie) that host unwanted familial and neighborly guests.
Some guests bring Scruffy Banister the cat (they’re from out east so it’s pronounced “Scruffy-eeaa Banist-AAAA). The cat isn’t in every scene but makes occasional apperances as it’s destroying furniture, hissing, scratching, etc. It’s a devil cat.
Towards the end of the movie, Kirstie’s character comes to love Scruffy Banista.
For years my girlfriends & I would randomly yell, “Scruffy Banistaaaaa!!!”

  28. May favorite movie ever… hard to say… My favorite cat movie! The Cat from Outer Space. A 1978 classic. I used to beg my mom to let me stay up & watch it whenever it was on TV as a kid!

  29. OOOh! That looks fun!

I have to say…my most favorite movie (ever) is The Little Mermaid. First movie I ever saw in theaters.

  30. My favorite kitty movie is…Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey…Sally Field was wonderful as the voice of Sassy!

  31. ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’

Most heart wrenching scene with Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard as Holly Go Lightly and ‘Fred’ go looking for Cat out in the pouring rain and find him and there is that kiss. <3

  32. LOVE this bag! I tried so hard to snag one at the Twitter party, but failed miserably!

Let’s see, favorite movie featuring a cat is Milo & Otis!

  33. I love Harry and Tonto, Milo and Otis, Sleepwalkers and Homeward Bound: the Incredible Journey.

I am going to rent Puss in Boots from Netflix as soon as it is available to send to me.

There are so many good cat movies.

I loved The Aristocats when I was a child.

  34. What a great giveaway!
My favorite movie is Moulin Rouge, but my favorite cat movie has to be Puss in Boots! 😀

  35. LOVE the Tinest Tiger Hipster bag!!! Have lots of favorite cat movies, especially The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Aristocats. I have particularly fond memories of watching these two movies with my two children many long years ago!

  36. Awesome looking Tiniest Tiger Hipster bag! Would love to win this fab bag! Love how the bag displays the love of cats in the stitching! My 4 kitties would definitely enjoy all the cat swag inside!

My favorite movie featuring a cat would be Milo and Otis! This great adventure makes you laugh and cry!

I’ve posted the giveaway on my FB page! Great giveaway!

  37. Harry & Tonto is such a good movie. Though pretty scary, I like the first Alien also. One of my all time favorite films is Casablanca (no cats.)

  38. Night Shift was written by Stephen King. Oops I forgot to write that.

I will post this on my Facebook page too.

  39. I would love to win ‘The Tiniest Tiger hipster bag filled with fun.’ Thanks again for offering another cool item to win.

My all time favorite cat movie is Cat’s Eye that includes three short stories about one cat. Two of the stories are based on the same ones which appeared in his book, Night Shift.

My favorite story is the last one whereas General (the cat) helps a little girl who is being tormented by a doll sized troll.

My favorite movie of all time is Schindler’s List which won so many Oscars in 1994.

  40. I love stumbling across the minor roles that cats play in movies. A cat appears in “Silence of the Lambs.” Cats are a part of “An Unfinished Life,” and there is a great scene at the end with two of the farm cats.

  41. I love the Cat from Outer Space too. I can’t watch the Otis and Milo movie – it is way too traumatic for me. Now that I am sad, a goodie bag would sure cheer the kitties and me up!

  42. There are so many good movies out there, it’s hard to pick a favorite. I think my favorite with a cat is “Milo & Otis.” Oh I laughed and cried. Every time I see it, I laugh and cry some more. Oh, and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” I felt so sorry for Cat at the end when he was out in the rain, but Holly did go get him back. I would have been so mad if she hadn’t.

  43. I must confess I cannot even think of one movie that has a cat in it-I did watch Hatchi the other night about a dog that was an interesting story about loyalty. Favourite movie is The Sound of Music and Grease-. In fact Magellan and I watched Hatchi together-he sat upright the entire movie watching it intensely with me. If you asked me about a book about cats I could come up with a list.

We just started eating weurvia (spelling may be off). We were not sure initially if we liked it but mum did not put out other food and we cleaned off our plates. Magellan the fussy eater seems to like it more than Penelope the piggy eater. Mama likes seeing all the pieces of meat in it. Thank you Ingrid for the suggestion. It is Sunday morn and we are sleeping soundly in our condo-we woke mama up at 6 a.m.-I have taught Magellan how to nudge her hard-I just squeak and jump up and down off the bed about 30 times. Honest to goodness truth. She cannot sit still in the mornings, on the bed off the bed on the bed off the bed-talking to herself the entire time. Magellan is more low key-he nudges hard and then settles down. Yesterday I was very naughty-mama had a roasted chicken and even though it was cold from the fridge I could smell it (ignore the fact that mama always feeds us first and I had already had lunch). I jumped on the counter and started pulling meat off the carcass. My teeth are so strong and I like chicken so much I did not get scared when mama raised her voice. As she picked me up and put me on the floor I managed to keep my teeth secured to the chicken and take a piece with me.

    • I’m so happy to hear that they liked the Weruva. And a little (human) chicken every now and then can’t hurt – just tell Mama to make sure you don’t ever get any of the bones. Cooked bones can splinter and cause trouble when ingested. Although Mama probably would prefer you didn’t do “self-service”…

  44. My favorite cat movie has to be Disney’s “That Darn Cat.” As a child, that movie made me want to be owned by a cat. I started my campaign with my parents & serendipitously a little while later a neighbor came around giving away kittens. (This was back in the 60’s when such things were done). We got our kitten, named him Charlie & thus began my lifelong love of all things feline. My favorite movie in general? There are so many I love from “Casablanca” to “The Best of Everything” to “Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang.”

  45. I love that bag. How adorable!! I have to admit Puss in Boots steals my heart. But I’m a sap for any talking cat. Lion King was also wonderful. I’d love it if my cats could talk.. [well w/9 in the house, I might change my mind after a while, lol]

I would LOVE for them to make a movie from Homer the Blind Cat’s story. I loved that. We have a little blind girl who looks just like him so I’m partial probably, but it was an awesome story.

Thanks for such an awesome give away!

  46. Hi Ingrid! I love the red carpet photo of the girls! My fave movie of all time is “Pretty Woman.” My fave cat movies are “The Cat from Outer Space”, “The Aristocats” and “The Lion King.”

  47. My favorite is an old movie “Born Free”. I cry every time I watch it. But what a wonderful story! I wish that all cats could be born free……….free of pain, free of need, free of hunger and free of fear. I wish that all cats could have a safe forever home and all the love that we humans can give!

  48. I love the movie Milo and Otis and also The Aristocats. I LOVE all the old Garfield TV specials. Especially the Christmas one where the Grandma is feeling sad and missing her husband who has passed on and Garfield get up in her lap and Grandma says “How did you know I needed a kitty in my lap?”. How many times have I said that to my own cats.

  49. My fave movie of all time is The Matrix, Part One…and there’s a black cat in it! I would love to win the bag!

  50. My favorite movie is “Dark Eyes”. My favorite cat movie is “The Cat From Outer Space”. Also I’ve been watching the TV show “The Closer” lately and she has a touching relationship with her cat.The bag looks great…I would love to have it and all the goodies for my 3 cats >^^<

  51. I would love to win a bag. My favorite cat movie is “The Cat From Outer Space”. I loved Jake. My kids love this movie, too. I also remember “The Three Lives of Thomasina”, another great Disney movie.

  52. My favorite movie with a cat theme is “The Cat from Outer Space”. I loved that kitty, and now, many years later, I share my home with one who looks very similar.

  53. Really enjoyed the Red Carpet Twitter Party!!

My favorite cat/cat movie would have to be Sassy in Homeward Bound the Incredible Journey…her name says it all ; )

  54. I shared on Facebook and Twitter. I don’t know how to get the individual URL for the posts.

  57. My favourite movie (And cat movie too) has to be Disney’s Aristocats. I am a huge Disney fan and a huge cat lover, so it is the purr-fect mix for me. It has been a great joy sharing the movie with my four year old cat loving son!

  58. My favorite movies change throughout the years but my current one is Eat, Pray, Love. My favorite movie with cats is Aristocats – I’m just a big kid at heart and love Disney movies. I’m excited at the chance to win this – thank you!

  59. I can’t choose one movie, but I LOVE Contact and it is one of the few I can watch once a year or so. Most cat movies drive me crazy as they portrait cats outdoors, drinking milk, screaming, getting caught in the rain, etc. I want to see them indoors and beloved pets 🙂 I know, I know, what a dreamer. I, too, thought of Thomasina, one I saw as a girl. I loved out of Africa. Too many to name. Thank you for the chance to win this great, fun prize!

  60. TWeeted about the giveaway!!/FourPawSavings/status/173753979627511808

  61. I’m a big fan of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and always cry when Cat is put out in the rain before Holly runs back for him.

  62. Good Morning…. Wonderful blog post. You two look so great on the Red Carpet. Don’t enter us in the give away since we are part of the blog tour too… Just wanted to wish you a happy Academy Award Sunday.

    pawhugs, Max

  63. I love these Tiniest Tiger Hipster Bags, very nice looking, and the goodies inside sound great as well! Does anyone remember a movie from the ’60s called “The Three Lives of Thomasina?” I’d have to say it’s my all time favorite movie about a cat 🙂
