Gwen Cooper’s Curl Up with a Cat Tale series features humorous and heartwarming short stories about the ongoing adventures of Gwen’s feline family. I find myself falling a little bit more in love with Gwen’s cats with each story. This month’s installment goes back to the time when Gwen adopted two kittens in hopes of helping Homer cope with his grief after Scarlett passed away.
“This has become a sad house,” Gwen’s husband Laurence observed on more than one occasion during that time. Even though Gwen wasn’t sure how Homer would react to having a new cat in his life, she was desperate to somehow restore his playfulness. After fostering a series of middle-aged cats, none of which turned out to be a good match for Homer, she adopted 12-week-old Fanny and Clayton.
I loved having a chance to visit with Homer again, and to learn about Fanny and Clayton’s first days and weeks in their new home. As always, Gwen’s writing makes you feel like you’re right there with her, Laurence, and the cats. You find yourself crossing your fingers and paws as she works on helping Homer accept the newcomers.
This is another delightful story in Gwen’s series, and as always, it left me looking forward to the next installment.
Individual stories in the Curl Up with a Cat Tale series are available on Amazon.
