When it comes to littler boxes, cleanliness is truly next to godliness. Boxes should be scooped at least once a day, preferably several times a day. At least once a month, the litter should be completely changed out after thoroughly cleaning the box with hot water and unscented soap. And no matter how well you clean, the porous plastic will start to break down eventually, depending on how frequently the box is used. In most cases, litter boxes should be replaced after 6 months to a year.
About Kitty Sift®
Kitty Sift® is a convenient and sustainable alternative to plastic litter boxes. Inventor Carrie Van Wert was volunteering at a local humane society when she learned that that one of the main reasons why cats are surrendered was due to litter box issues. She wanted to find a better solution. Putting her decades of experience in packaging production to use, she created an eco-friendly litter box that also eliminated the need for scooping with its patented sifting liners.
Kitty Sift® comes in large and jumbo sizes. The large box measures 14 x 18 x 4 inches, the jumbo box measures 18 x 20.5 x 5.5 inches. The boxes feature a removable shield.
This eco-friendly litter system keeps litter drier and fresher longer and reduces bacteria and odor. The material is water-resistant and won’t leak.
How to use
Using the Kitty Sift® couldn’t be easier. Simply sift, dump out the solids, rotate the sifter and reinsert for the next round of kitty deposits. Once a month, replace the entire box and recycle the discarded one.
The sifter inserts can also be used in regular plastic litter boxes, depending on make and size of the box.
My take on Kitty Sift®
I like the simple design of this box, and the ease of keeping your cat’s litter as clean as possible. It’s a perfect litter box if you’re going to be traveling with your cat.
I don’t recommend plastic liners, since most cats hate them, but these liners are an alternative if you want to use a liner in your existing box.
The convenient subscription program makes makes it easy to remember when to change out the entire box.
