There’s no question that cleaning the litter box is one of the less fun aspects of sharing life with cats, but it’s also one of the most important ones. And when it comes to something you’re going to be doing every day, multiple times a day, having the right tool for the job makes life so much easier. The Brask Pet Jumbo Litter Scoop makes quick work of this task.
Litter box hygiene 101
Keeping you litter boes clean will ensure that your cats continues to use them. Boxes should be scooped at least once a day, preferably several times a day. Add litter as needed. At least once a month, dump out the entire litter box and thoroughly clean it with hot water and unscented soap. Don’t use harsh chemicals or ammonia based cleaners. Replace litter boxes completely after 6 months to a year. No matter how well you clean, the porous plastic will start to break down and eventually absorb bacteria.
If you must use litter additives to control odor, use enzyme or probiotic based products with no added scent. Baking soda is an inexpensive litter additive that provides good odor control.
When it comes to litter scoops, not all scoops are the same. The size of the scoop, the angle, the distance between the slats, the overall design – all of these can make a difference in how well a scoop works for you.
About the Brask Pet Jumbo Litter Scoop
At 16 inches long, this generously sized scoop is made from strong aluminum which won’t bend or rust. The soft ergonomic handle is comfortable and makes maneuvering the scoop easy. The shovel measure 5.25 inches wide x 6 inches long and 2 inches deep, which means it holds a lot of waste, which cuts down on cleaning time.
Putting the Jumbo Litter Scoop to the test
The scoop is well designed, and the handle felt super comfortable in my hand. The metal edge easily removed clumps from the side of the box, and the slots are close enough so that even smaller pieces of urine clumps stayed in the scoop.
Since I’m used to using a much smaller scoop, it took a little while to get used to the size, but once I did, I really liked this scoop. I scoop pretty much as soon as Allegra and Ruby deposit something in the box, so the size of a scoop is not that important to me, but I think this would be a great scoop if you have multiple boxes that are heavily used. I would especially recommend it for rescue groups and shelters – this scoop will make quick work of a dirty job.

But does the wet litter stick to the scoop? Extra cleaning time if the scoop has to be cleaned after scooping is done.
I have one bc 2 of my cats like clumping litter which leaves heavy clumps. The metal and size are strong enough to handle the clump weight and does a great job of scraping box sides, when needed
This looks like a good scooper. I have a couple that are kind of old but I love how well they work, I have a hard time throwing them out.
I like that it’s bigger and metal.
I love the the metal or the hard plastic or whatever how they are made.
