When a video of a cat and crow playing together went viral (shown below), and was seen on The Oprah Winfrey Show, National Geographic, and Animal Planet, to name just a few, some people were initially skeptical and wondered whether this amazing friendship could possibly be anything but the result of creative editing. However, the story is true. For four years, Moses the crow and Cassie the cat met in Ann and Wally Collito’s yard in Massachussetts, delighting viewers around the world with their antics and captivating their hearts.
In Cat and Crow: An Amazing Friendship, Lisa Fleming, a former newspaper columnist and freelance writer with a passion for animals and wildlife, tells the story of how these two natural enemies became best friends. Anne Marie Dominik-Harris’ delightful illustrations add to the special magic this little book exudes. It includes educational facts about cats and crows, newspaper clippings about the story, and real-life photographs of the two unlikely friends.
In a world filled with so much strife, this book brings a message of hope, friendship and peace. Even though the book is aimed at children, adults will find it equally charming.
The book is available for purchase from Barnes & Noble or directly from Collage Books.

My daughter would love because it has two of her favorite animals in the story! Thanks
I love cats and have been enchanted by the video. I would just love to have the book for my nieces and nephews. Thanks!!
I want to read this book to my grandchild while surrounded by our cats.
I would love to win this book. I love cats and I love books. I’m a school librarian so I would probably read the book then donate it to the library so many children could enjoy it too. And if I wanted to read it again I could always check it out. 🙂
Well I want to win the book for two reasons. I love cats and I love crows. Both intelligent and intuitive animals. It looks like a most beautiful book!!!
This sounds like a delightful book about a special relationship between a crow and a cat. I would love to win this and add it to my collection of cat books. This would also bring a smile to me as it sounds so uplifting and happy. Thanks for offering this Ingrid. I will also put this on my Facebook profile with my comments.
I would love to win this book for a friend of mine who rescues cats, I know she would enjoy this book, and then pass it on to the senior citizen home she volunteers at.
Hi! I find this such a lovely story, and would appreciate having it to refer to when I get down and out about the state of the world. I know there are ways for us to find common ground with each other, to discover or rediscover our compassion–in politics, in international relations, in economics, in the ways we treat each other from day-to-day–and sometimes those lessons we need to absorb come in the most unusual of forms, like with these two unlikely buddies. Looking through this beautiful book would help me to keep remembering that.
My 4 year old son would LOVE this book! I showed him the video online and he giggles and thinks it is pretty cool that the bird and cat get along. He loves reading so he would really enjoy this book. We read the Dewey library cat book almost every night.
It’s such a sweet story and I need some cheering up.
Oh, I would really LOVE for my daughter to win this book! She loves The Conscious Cat, she lives on the island of Oahu, works at the state library, but most of all because she LOVES cats! She is the proud guardian of three cats, one of which she is currently fostering. She is loving ang giving and volunteers at the Humane Society in Honolulu and LOVES helping all animals. I know that she would love having this book as part of her personal library!
Thank you
Please don’t enter us since we’ve done our own giveaway, but wanted to say how much we LOVED the book.
I would give this to my nephew. I think it teaches a wonderful lesson. Thank you Ingrid.
I think this sounds so adorable! If I were to win this, I actually would pass it on to a co-worker’s mother. She has a couple granddaughters who are cat fans, and I think they would enjoy the book 🙂
My kids and I often watch videos about this story, because it’s fun AND incredible! (AND we LOVE cats!) It would be a wonderful addition to our home that would be enjoyed by all: Me and my kids ages 12, 5, and 3! Thanks for the wonderful opportunity!
I love this story, and have watched the video numerous times. I would like to win this book to donate to a third grade teacher I know. She is trying to build a classroom library, and this would be a great addition.
