Earlier this week, Samantha Martin and the Amazing Acro-Cats performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – and they even got Stephen Colbert to wear cat ears! If you ever get a chance to see their show, which features over a dozen beautiful rescue cats, don’t miss it. Samantha and the Acro-Cats aren’t just about entertainment, they’re also dedicated to educating cat lovers about how training cats can enhance the bond between cats and humans, and they are devoted to the animal rescue (since 2009, Samantha Martin has found homes for more than 150 cats.)

If you missed any of the stories featured on the Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we told you about the top 10 toxic substances for cats, on Tuesday, we reviewed the just released new book Catify to Satisfy by Jackson Galaxy and Kate Benjamin, and on Wednesday, we featured beautiful pen and ink custom cat drawings by Inspurration. And this week, we have not just one, but three giveaways for you to enter! Win an Alpaca cat bed from WraptCats (ends tomorrow,) a Flitter Fly Toy from Petlinks, and an autographed copy of Catify to Satisfy.

I think today’s video of Samantha Martin and the Amazing Acro-Cats on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert is quite possibly the happiest video on the internet right now. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!

  1. The Amazing Acro-cats desperately need a new tour bus to continue advocating the welfare of cats, fostering cats, and finding furever homes for their foster cats.
So far, 165 cats have found their furever homes because of The Acro-Cats tireless efforts.
Please consider donating to their kickstarter. If they don’t reach their goal by December 24th, they won’t be funded.
Which means they won’t be able to continue rescuing cats or tour anymore.

  2. Actually, I was concerned about their performance. Many of the cats wouldn’t do their trick. Luckily, Stephen stepped in and did some of the tricks. Were they sick? Jet lag?
I’ve seen the Popovich cat group on stage and on tv, and he has extra cats in case one won’t do the trick. But I never saw one not do the trick. They are in Las Vegas now. Maybe Stephen should have them on soon.

    • I’m not a huge fan of the Russian cat circuses, I’ve heard some not so good things about how they treat the cats. Samantha is all about the cats – if they don’t want to do a trick, so be it. It’s actually why, in the full show, she also has a chicken. Apparently, chickens are super easy to train and always do what they’re taught to do, so the chicken sometimes fills in when the cats dont’ feel like performing!

      • I met Popovich and his daughter, they love cats, they have a video (and a book I think) about how they train their cats, and they do it with love. The cats are all rescue cats from the Las Vegas shelter. He says that you train a cat only to do the things they love to do anyway, for example, some cats like to jump on things, as opposed to those that love strings. Maybe the other Russian cat circuses are bad, but he isn’t.
