i_and_love_and_you_cat_food

I’m always on the lookout for new brands of grain-free food, and I was intrigued when I was contacted by a petfood company with a very unusual name: “I and love and you.” I like the philosophy behind the brand, and I wanted to hear more.

I and love and you’s diets are formulated by a holistic veterinarian, and they’re a green company. According to the company, they use wild-caught, grass-fed, free-range and cage-free meats raised without the use of antibiotics and growth hormones when available, produce their  nutritional supplements in FDA registered, human- grade facilities, and create their foods in USDA inspected facilities. They use minimally processed ingredients and they don’t use  by-products or rendered meat, corn or soy, or any other additives or fillers. They avoid using GMO ingredients whenever possible. A company spokesperson told me that these diets “will make your cat unconditionally love and adore you. Or, at the very least…stop giving you looks of disdain.”

Please note that I have not tried these diets for Allegra and Ruby, so I can’t speak to their palatability.

The canned diets come in Cluckin’ Lickin’, Whascally Wabbit, Wholly Cow and Oh My Cod flavors.

I and love and you have generously offered a case of their canned diets (winner chooses the flavor) as well as a second case to go to a shelter or rescue group of the winner’s choice. The winner will also receive a bag of Nothin’ But Fish treats.

My favorite shelter is the Persian and Himalayan Cat Rescue of Northern California. I will share on Facebook.

  5. I adopted a cat that was very sick with giardiasis and cryptosporidium. Spent a small fortune and cleared his system of parasites but the ended up with inflammatory bowel and food allergies. He didn’t feel good and was loosing weight. I finally found I and Love and You Whimsy Rabbit and between that and some freeze dried raw food he is thriving and running around like a kitten!

  6. My kitties would like to try Cluckin Lickin and my favorite shelter is Frankie’s Friends Animal Rescue in Pittsburgh PA

  7. I would like to win the Cluckin Licken for my Phoebe – I think she would like it.

My favorite shelter is the Friendship APL of Lorain Ohio.
I will share this on Facebook.

  8. I’ve never heard of this company, but would love to try the Whascally Wabbit for Andybelle. At 14 and my last FIV+ boy, he’s starting to have some tummy issues. He’s never had rabbit, so I think it would be great for him to try it.

    As for a non-profit, I would choose http://kittenassociates.org/.

  9. we’d like to try cluckin lickin and I’d like to other case to go to The Litter Box in Olgallala NE they are a small 501 c3 operation: https://www.facebook.com/OgallalaLitterBox

  10. My cats would love to try Cluckin’ Lickin’ flavor. I’m always looking for a good natural cat food that the cats will actually eat.

My favorite cat rescue is Lucky Paws Animal Rescue.

  11. My three cats would love the cluckin one! The humane society of McCormick county in sc could probably use it more than me!

  12. I would love to win a case of ‘Cluckin’ Lickin’ canned cat food for my cats if I should be so lucky to win.

My favorite shelter is the Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary. I would love it if they can win a case of any flavor of this canned cat food. http://www.blindcatrescue.com/

  13. My 5 would love to try out the Whascally Wabbit. But more importantly I know the Humane Society of Midland County in Michigan would be very happy with any flavor!!

  14. My 3 cats would Love to try the wascally wabbit food and I know the Dane county humane society would be greatful for this as well. It’s where I adopted my kitties from and an awesome way to give back

  15. My cats would love to try Oh My Cod. I am a volunteer at the L.A. County Animal Care and Control Shelter in Carson, CA and would like a case of food to be donated there.

  16. Oh My Cod sounds lovely.

I used to volunteer at Save-A-Pet in Illinois, so I’d love for them to win, too.
    http://www.saveapetil.org/

  17. I think my Ellie Mae would like Oh My Cod the best. She doesn’t eat beef and only sort of likes chicken. She has never had rabbit.

If we win we would like to donate our second case to Paws & Moore Animal Shelter in Washington, Iowa. Ellie was adopted from there and they treated her well. Ellie says she should give back to them. 🙂

  18. Oh My Cod sounds absolutely delicious! (We would be happy with whatever you give us).

    I volunteer with:

    Friends For Life Animal Rescue
    Gilbert, AZ

  19. My cats would love to try the “Oh My Cod” flavor and I’d like to donate to The Pet Project Midwest if that’s possible. They aren’t a shelter but they make sure people are able to feed their pets. If they don’t qualify then I’d pick the Story County Animal Shelter.

I would like to mention a concern too. I get concerned when flavors like Rabbit are offered as a normal diet for cats because it is used as a test diet for cats that have either food sensitivities or food allergies. If a cat already eats rabbit then that option as a “novel protein” is gone and the choices for testing are narrowed. I’ve gone through this process with a couple of my cats and ran out of options with both when they tired of each of their novel diets or started reacting to it.

    Thanks for this opportunity!

  20. Cluckin’ Lickin’ sounds good for my Zoe and the shelter she was adopted from, Little Shelter Animal Rescue in Huntington, NY

  21. I was excited to see this new food until I read the ingredient list and found Carrageenan listed in every canned cat and dog food flavor, bummer 🙁 Carrageenan isn’t good for humans so I’m pretty certain that I don’t want it in my cats’ food either.

That being said, if I am the lucky winner, I would like to donate both cases of food to Bobbi & the Strays in Ozone Park NY.

If anyone would like to read more about carrageenan, here’s some interesting info: http://truthaboutpetfood2.com/whats-this-ingredient-in-my-pets-food-carrageenan

    • As I mentioned to a previous commenter, I’m not crazy about the carrageenan in these diets, either, Annemarie. I’ve previously written about this topic: https://consciouscat.net/2012/06/08/carrageenan-should-it-be-in-your-cats-food/

It’s actually quite shocking how many human products contain this ingredients. Even products we think of as super healthy, like almond milk, contain it.

  22. Mine love fish, so the cod would get scarfed the fastest lol. The rescue I’d choose is Winnie’s Wish in IL. Thanks for the opportunity! Good luck everyone!!

  23. What fun names for food. I love the name I and love and you. We would love to win Cluckin’ Lickin’. My favorite rescue is Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in NC. Thanks for the giveaway.

  24. My cats would like to try the Cluckin’ Lickin’. My favorite rescue group is The Feline Foundation of Greater Washington.

  25. My 11 kitties would love any flavor I am sure, but the fish would likely be their most favorite one. My favorite cat shelter is the Whiskers Project in Blairsville, Georgia where I adopted 2 of my cat family.

  26. I think my crew would love Whascally Wabbit. If I win, I’d like to donate a case to SPOT – Saving Pets One at a Time in Oceanside, California.

  27. My cats would like to try the “Cluckin’ Lickin” and we’d like to donate a case to Humane Society of Elmore County (Wetumpka, Alabama)
    Thank you so much

  28. My foster kitties aren’t all that picky most days, but they would love to try Whascally Wabbit since it would be different from the usual fish and chicken flavors. All 10 cats (including my own) would would like to give the second case of food to Calvin’s Paws located in Raleigh, NC.

  29. We’d love to try Whascally Wabbit or Wholly Cow. Sure our kitties will love it! And we’d like a case donated to Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue of MN. Thank you:)

  30. I think my cat would love the Cluckin’Lickin’ flavor, and we would like to donate a case to the MSPCA in Boston, Mass., where I adopted him in 2006. Thank you!

  31. I’d like to try “Wholly Cow” for my kitty, Caramel. I’d like to donate the same flavor cans to Clarion P.A.W.S. in Clarion, PA. Thank you.

  32. My baby girl Hannah is one year into renal failure and I would love to find a food she will love. Cluckin’ Lickin’ or Whascally Wabbit (actually we’d take any flavor).

And my shelter is Kitty Devore Network who works to save as many kittes as possible from the Devore Animal Shelter which has a kitty kill rate of 92%

  33. I think the Cluckin’ Lickin’ would be a good starter choice. Friends of San Martin Animal Shelter (http://www.fosmas.org) has a bunch of kitties that would love to try it.

  34. Cluckin’ Lickin’ or Whascally Wabbit. I would love to switch my cats to something better for them. All are rescued, half used to be feral and all are spoiled

I’d donate the free case to Feline Rescue of Northern Nevada. They take in and care for older cats and cats with special needs.

  35. Oh My Cod!!!! Saw this food at my local Sprouts Market and was intrigued, but waited to buy until I heard more about it! Now I’m really interested & am sure my 17 year old grandpa kitty and my sweet blind girl, Madison would LOVE this flavor!! The most awesome rescue ever here in San Diego is Friends Of Cats & they need all the help they can get!!

  36. I am always looking for a new food for my kitties that is good for them and keeps them at a healthy weight. Unfortunately I cannot afford to buy most of the foods out there that meet the standards that I should be feeding them. At least a free case would give me a chance to try a good food for them and the money I wouldn’t be spending on their normal food while they were eating the case would allow me to buy some good food for them.

Admittedly I am also hoping to win so that my local SPCA could receive a free case as they are a no kill shelter and are overrun with kittens and cats. Any help they can get is greatly appreciated.

  37. I think cluckin licken and oh my cod would do nicely for my 19 year old picky eater! The other case would go to A.W.S.O.M.E.!

  38. I would want to try Whascally Wabbit for all my kitties – foster and otherwise.

As long as the food is acceptable to Robin, I would choose Kitten Associates as my rescue group!

  39. This is a very nice give a way! If I win I would probably pick the wholly cow because some cats are allergic to poultry, like my Meeko. Also, I would donate my case too, to the animal care council. I don’t feed my cats canned food except for Meeko and he is on a strict diet of only one brand that I found doesn’t cause him problems. The animal care council is strictly non profit and do not euthanize their cats. I have adopted a cat through them before. They deserve this give a way.

    Thank you!

  40. i would love to try the wabbit .. my male kitten loves to try new forms of meat .. my 2 girls are just to picky for anything and only drink the extra water i add to it .. i would give a case to Frisky Whiskers in st. louis

  41. Good luck to all those who want to try this product. I will abstain. Not a fan of fruits and veg for cats nor of carrageenan.

  42. My 2 fur babies would prefer Clukin Chicken. I recommend the Animal Service League, Inc. of Rochester, NY to also receive a case.

  43. I would love for my four cats to try Cluckin’ Lickin. The rescue I choose is C.A.T.S (an all cats shelter) in Medford, Oregon.
    thank you!

  44. We are in the process of switching to a primarily wet found diet and this product is perfect for that transition!

  45. I think my kitty clan would like to try them all! That being said, whascally rabbit sounds the most fun to me! I would like to select my favorite cat rescue, Feral Cat Foundation to also receive some whascally rabbit. Thanks, great giveaway!

  46. We would love to try Cluckin’ Lickin’ (and will eventually try all the flavors).
Animal shelter is called Converse Animal Shelter, Converse, Texas

  47. whascally wabbit please, for all those kitties needing special protein diets! My chosen organization is Rescue House in San Diego, CA

  48. Terrific sounding company! Our guys would enjoy the Cluckin’ Lickin’ and our favorite local shelter is The Humane Society of Southwest Michigan. Thank you for the giveaway and for bringing this company to my attention.

  49. I have tried this food and my cats love the Cluckin’ Lickin’, so that would be my choice. I would donate a case to the Des Moines County Humane Society.

  50. My kitties would love the Oh My Cod. They are fans of fishy flavors. My shelter would be the Western PA Humane Society. All three of my kitties were adopted from there and they do a great job saving so many kitties, dogs and bunnies.

  51. My kitties would love the Oh My Cod. They are fans of fishy flavors. My shelter is the Western PA Humane Society. All of my kitties were adopted from there and they do a great job helping to save so many kitties, dogs and bunnies.

My favorite shelter is the one I adopted them from, West Milford Animals Shelter in West Milford, NJ 🙂

  58. I’d like to win a case of Cluckin’ Lickin’ for my 6 indoor kitties, 1 foster kitty and 1 outdoor feral cat (8 total)! The shelter I volunteer with and support is The Hundred Cat Foundation, Inc. We spay/neuter feral cats and help supply local caretakers with food for their colonies. Thanks so much for this opportunity to try a new healthful food and benefit a shelter as well.

  59. I’d love to try a case of the rabbit flavor, I don’t feed things with carageenan as a rule, but if the boys like it I’d let them have it now and again as a treat (I eat ice cream now and then after all :D)

My shelter of choice would be Another Chance in Berwick, Maine, where I’ve adopted a couple of my critters from. They are a small, no kill, rescue and could use the support.

  60. Oops forgot i am sharing on twitter and facebook thanks loads!!!
Could you tell us if retail outlets have your product?

  61. I would love to test drive the Cluckin’ Luckin flavor as my kitty Nike LOVES chicken!
I always try to feed her the best food possible-somethat that I would eat, but with the particular nutrients, like taurine, that cats need. I am happy to hear about I and Love and You and the unusual name will likely appeal to thoughtful, curious cat owners.
My favorite shelter is the nearby No Kill shelter True Friends in Montrose PA.
    THANK YOU!!!

  62. I would love to get Whascally Wabbit for my two inside cats and the three ferals (one is an adorable kitten!) that I feed outside. I volunteer and contribute to Tabby’s Place – A Cat Sanctuary in Ringoes, NJ who could definitely use the food as well!

  63. We love the rascally rabbit flavor!!! We have six cats and they LOVE this food. High quality, great comapny. We buy it on weeknds as treats, to their normal food. its amazing.
We support Animal Rescue of thr Rockies..we adopted four of our six cats from this incredible rscue organization.
    Hope we win!!!

  64. I love the name of this company as well as the cat food names! I’d love to find a healthy, tasty cat food my rescues and fosters will eat…maybe this is it! Most of my cats love chicken so I’d love to win the Cluckin’ Chicken flavor.

    Thank you!
~ Amy and The Feline Family!

  65. Shared via Facebook and forgot to add that we would like to try Wholly Cow or Whascally Wabbit, any of the flavors sound like something Clarkford Victor Darkford would enjoy!

  66. We almost lost our baby boy Clark this summer, so now he gets spoiled with canned food. We would love to try out a new brand. Something to keep him from protesting his little girl cry as we walk by him! The non-profit I would donate my case to if we won would be to Paws & Prayers. They pull from high kill shelters 🙂

  67. Cluckin’ Lickin’ would be Katie’s fave and our shelter is Feline Rescue in St. Paul, MN.
    Thank you!!!

  68. I would love to try Cluckin’ Lickin’ for my kitties and donate the other case to:
The Cat House on the Kings Cat Rescue + Sanctuary
7120 S. Kings River Rd., Parlier, California 93648

  69. My cats would love to try Whascally Wabbit and they would like to donate a case to the rescue they came from: Cat NAPS of Pottstown, PA.

  70. My cats like this food..they would love to win Whascally Wabbit. If I won, the other case would go to Good Mews Animal Foundation in Marietta, GA.

  71. Oh yeah…the 0h my cod! was just voted as the “winner” in my 4 rescue household. Kyle was holding out for the meat, but Lucy just smacked him and voted for him. two out of my 4 were rescued from my favorite shelter- MHAA (Mid- Hudson Animal Aid) which is a no-kill shelter exclusively for cats. The love and devotion that they give to their strays makes me want to win more for them than for me! Fingers and paws are crossed!

  72. If I won his case of kitty food, I would bring it to my library’s drop-off for a cat shelter. I regularly donate this & that for our feline friends at this shelter. Helping others feels soooo good:) Thank You.

  73. I have a very funny boy here who would love to get his chops into a case of Wholly Cow. If I win, the other case would go to the Shiawassee County Humane Society in Owosso, MI.

  74. i’d like to try the wascially rabbit to help with my cat’s possible food allergies. the rescue shelter is called kitty harbor in Griswold, ct. thanks for this great info.

  75. Cluckin lickin sounds great to me! My favorite shelter is Standish Humane Society in Duxbury, MA. If I’m selected, could all the food be donated there, please?

  76. I adopted a cat last year who’s 17 (also have 2 more who are 8 that I adopted from the SPCA as kittens). He has stomach issues we can’t find the cause of, and has lost over 2 pounds in the last year and continues to slowly lose weight (now less than 7 pounds). But he’s done much better on grain-free and loves canned food, though beef doesn’t agree with him, so I’d love the chicken lickin’ pate for him. My favorite shelter is Angels of Assisi in Roanoke, VA, where I adopted my senior boy. Great no-kill shelter.

  77. If I won, I would donate both cases to the Humane Society of Cobb County, a no-kill shelter in Marietta, GA. Their resident cats would surely enjoy the yummy food!

  78. I am at my wits end trying to find something my girls will eat. They are now 17 (3 sisters) and late, they show little interest in food. Thyroid is stable on meds but I can’t get them to like anything for more than a few days. So I would love to try this food. Cluckin lickin sounds good. So many great shelters in my area but I would select Stray Aid because while they focus on spay/neuter that is affordable, they also focus on ferals and this food would be good for them too.

  79. My five fur kids, which I rescued as feral kittens (and yes, I twas able to TNR the mom :), would love the chance to try I and Love and You’s Cluckin’ Lickin’!!

My favorite rescue group is Stillwater Cat Haven, a non-profit organization, located in Anderson, California.

  80. We currently care for a feral colony of fourteen, in addition to fostering a rescue from the Bronx, in New York, and having two year old siblings in our home that were abandoned near my completely spayed feral colony! All of them love chicken so I’d love to win the cluckin’ licken’ for them!
I’m sharing this offer on Facebook right now.

The rescue I would love to see win is called Bella Bast rescue here on Long Island in New York. It’s a group of three or four women that do everything on their own with really no outside help.
They never say no and I know they are overwhelmed with how many kittens and cats they get surrendered and given to them!

  81. would love to win the rabbit since my boys have very sensitive digestive systems and i’m always on the lookout for good stuff for them. My charity would be little pods association (on FB too) since i will be adopting a kitten from them as soon as he is old enough to travel

  82. I would purchase the Wascally Wabbit – one of our cats goes outside and she’s quite the rabbit (unfortunately) hunter. Bet our other cats would like it too. Have four of our own cats and currently have four orphaned kittens I am fostering through Animal Ark in Hastings, MN. They would get my case of food if I won.

  83. The current 11 rescue/foster cats that I care for could certainly use the Cluckin’ Lickin’
because they are all special needs cats, and several have unique dietary needs.

The animal shelter I’d like to help is CatMan2 in Cullowhee, NC.

  84. I would love to win the cat food and feed it to the hungry strays in our feral community, they depend on people to feed them and getting wet food is a huge treat for them and their kittens. I would also appreciate a case of food for the kitties that are abandoned in foreclosed properties. LostOurHome.org rescues cats left behind in foreclosed properties and gets they new homes and new families. LOH needs extra food donations. Thank you, Beth

  85. Hi Ingrid
Just want to mention that I read the ingredients of this originally very enticing cat food, but sadly found “carageenan” listed fairly high up on the ingredient list. As you know, carageenan is implicated in cat intestinal cancers and inflammatory bowel disease in cats. It is most certainly a pro-inflammatory ingredient.

I know it is hard to find canned food free of BPA in the cans, no grains and no carageenan, but if I must feed something with carageenan, I like to see it listed at the end of the ingredient list -meaning that there is a only a small amount present.

Just wanted to give you and your readers a ‘heads up’ on this..

The conscious cat is always on my top list of sites to read daily, along with your books too! 🙂
Thank you for all you do for cats!

  86. I would love to win a case of Whascally Wabbit for my 27 kitties, as well as a case for Lost Our Home Pet Foundation. Both myself and the rescue only feed high quality food to our pets. Thank you!

  87. I have 2 rescue cats, and would love to win the, My Cod Pate Canned Cat Food, a variety would be really nice:). My favorite shelter, is in Elgin IL, Anderson Animal Shelter. I shared on all social networks. I would really like to win this! Please & Thank you ♥
