Allegra loves to be brushed. We have a little ritual: every day when I go into the kitchen to make my lunch, she gets up from her morning nap and eagerly waits for me to pick up the brush and give her a good brushing.
She starts by rubbing her face against the brush, then she rolls over so I can get her sides and belly first. After a few minutes, she lets me know she’s done by rubbing her face against the brush again, and then she sits up and waits for her treats.
I’ve always liked slicker brushes best for getting the most hair out with the least amount of effort, and all my cats have always loved them. I wrote about the demise of our 30+ year-old brush in April (say it with me: “They just don’t make things like they used to anymore!”) They no longer make that brush, so I started the search for a new one.
We’ve landed on the Dakpets Slicker Brush as our absolute favorite. It’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, the flat head makes getting hair out easy, and it must feel good to Allegra because she loves it.
The hair release feature is a nice extra touch.
It’s a little challenging to brush Allegra and get video at the same time, but this gives you an idea of how much she loves this brush:

I use a brush like that too. It’s especially good on long haired cats.
