If ever there was a perfect spokescat for an odor eliminator, it has to be Grumpy Cat, right? When I was first approached about featuring Grumpy Cat’s Odor Eliminator, I was a little skeptical. But once I took a closer look at the product, I was intrigued.
What’s in it
This product is only the first in what will soon become a safe and natural product line. The words “organic” and “all natural” are frequently misused.Continue Reading
How many of you bought Christmas presents for your cats, only to have them turn up their little noses at them, or play with them once or twice, and then ignore them? I’ve done this more than I care to admit. I don’t even know why I even buy Allegra and Ruby toys. Our cat playroom (known in most homes as the family room) is already filled with more cat products than your average pet store! But there’s just something about Christmas that makes me want to get them something special, wrap it for them, unwrap it with them, and, each year, hope that this time, it’s going to be something they’re really going to like.
The Neko Flies interactive cat toys are a perennial favorite at our house. When we heard that Nekochan Enterprises, the makers of Neko Flies, launched a new line of cat beds, we couldn’t wait to get our paws on one. We were sent the Neko Napper for review, and Allegra and Ruby were up to the challenge!
This adorable little hideaway is made from supersoft, plush, curdoroy covered cushions. The house comes in three easily assembled pieces (the roof attaches to the base of the house with zippers and velcro,) making it easy to fold away for storage or travel. The sleeping pad is machine washable. At 16.5” x 18” x 16.5,” this house is a nice size even for larger cats.Continue Reading
In Ancient Egypt, it was believed that cats could make their female masters irresistible. At Honeycat, a line of bath, body and spa products, cats are considered a symbol of female strength, and all of their products playfully reflect this theme. All products contain only natural ingredients, are preservative-free, and are never tested on animals.
This Holiday season, Honeycat is unveiling three new meow-velous products with their Ms. Claws Holiday Blues Collection.Continue Reading
Interactive toys are a great way to keep your cats stimulated both mentally and physically, and a great way for both you and your cats to get in on the fun. Toys such as feather teasers, wand toys or fishing pole type toys can provide hours of fun for you and for kitty. Playing with your cat is not only fun, it also increases the bond between the two of you.
Of course, cats also have a fairly short attention span and get easily bored with the same old toys, so I’m always looking for new wand toys to keep Allegra and Ruby engaged and interested. All three of us were delighted when Tiger Teasers sent us one of their Synthetic Fur Toys to review. We also received some “Bunnies,” which are corks covered in synthetic fur.Continue Reading
Buying a food or water bowl for your cat isn’t just a matter of finding the cutest pattern or color. What’s much more important than looks is the material the bowl is made out of, and the size.
Plastic bowls may contain BPA’s, and they can also harbor bacteria once they start getting scratched. Feline acne, which manifests in small, oily black bumps on the cat’s chin, very similar to blackheads in humans, is believed to be a reaction to plastic food bowls.
The best materials for cat bowls are glass, stainless steel, or ceramic.Continue Reading
Let me just cut to the chase: Allegra and Ruby went nuts as soon as I slit open the package from Tipsy Nip™ Organic Catnip Products, the creators of the original Tickle Pickle™! Even I could smell the catnip before I took the toys out of their plastic wrap. Allegra started chewing on the packages – clearly, I wasn’t opening them fast enough. That is some potent catnip!
The girls were in catnip heaven. We received two Purple Haze Tickle Pickles™, two packages of Tickle Gherkins, a Tummy Tickler, and two Tipsy Nip Organic Cat Grass kits.Continue Reading

Like most cat parents, cleaning the litter box is one of my least favorite chores. Don’t get me wrong, I do it diligently. Keeping the litter box clean is very important. Many inappropriate elimination problems are caused by a box that isn’t kept clean enough, at least, not from the cat’s point of view.
Since I work from home, I pretty much scoop as soon as Allegra or Ruby deposit something in one of our two boxes (especially if it’s in the one right outside my office). And you better believe I make sure I do a good job, because Allegra, our official box supervisor, always follows behind and makes sure I’ve done it right.
I’m a big fan of the CritterZone Air Purifier. This small, efficient unit really gets the job done, even on tough urine odors. And I speak from personal experience: Ruby, who is a vertical pee-er, managed to get some urine even over the very high edge of our litter box one time. The carpet around the box was soaked in urine. After blotting up the stain, I put the CritterZone on top of the stain upside down, as recommended on the CritterZone website. About an hour later, there was not a trace of urine smell left.
