On Monday, I featured my choices for the 10 best cat products. It can be challenging to pick just one product out of the dozens I receive for review every year. This year’s choice was an unexpected surprise even for me! So, without further ado, my choice for Best Cat Product this year is:

KittyWhip Cat Toys

I reviewed this toy in November. I almost declined when I first received the pitch to review a toy called KittyWhip. It just seemed like such an awful name for a cat toy. But once I took a look at the toys, I decided to accept – and I’m so glad I did.

At first glance, these toys don’t look like much. A string on a stick – how exciting could this possibly be? Well, let me cut to the chase: of all the wand toys we have in our home (and we have a lot of them,) few others have held Allegra’s interest like these.

Handcrafted in the USA from natural and sustainable materials, these toys feature a sturdy wooden wand. They come in three different versions: a thin cotton rope, a leather rope, and a thicker sisal rope. The design has a patent pending. They are extremely well made and have a nice hand feel to them. They also come in a “junior” version for small kittens.

Allegra has played with these toys every day ever since we received our samples six weeks ago. She still complains when I put the toys into the closet at the end of a play session.

  1. And I don’t have to worry about Rosie swallowing when she gets the leather “string” in her mouth.

  2. This was my review on their website and I got a very nice response from the seller.

    5 out of 5 stars

My two boys, Ren and Charley, absolutely love the Kitty Whip. They get so excited when we are playing with it and they don’t want to stop. This is honestly the best interactive cat toy they have ever played with so they rated it with 5 stars. It’s very well made too so I am sure we’ll have many years of playtime with it.

KittyWhip Leather purrfect for little hunters!

  3. I got one for my 16 y/o boy and my roommates 3 y/o kitty. They both love them. We play on the bed so Tyler can jump and attack the whip without hurting his joints.

  4. It just goes to show, sometimes simple is better. I wonder if Lulu would like this one too. She seems to have lost interest in her wand toys lately.

  5. LOL – Evie has demanded hers daily, also, and the simplicity of it is engaging. Without a feather toy on the end she can’t destroy it like she has all the others we have! A win-win!

  6. I like that they have ones for bigger kitties. My boys are Maine coon mixes (and a little chonky). They’ll make excellent surprises when they manage to magically loose all of their Xmas toys.
