Sunday Quotes: Small Pleasures

cat-life-pleasures

As this pandemic drags on, the big and small losses we’ve all experienced keep mounting, and even the most positive a among us can get tired of always looking for the silver lining. But that’s precisely why it’s more important than ever before that we don’t lose sight of life’s small pleasures.

Here’s a short list of some of my little pleasures:

    • Watching Allegra sleep in a sun puddle.
    • Lying down next to Allegra and taking a nap in that same sun puddle.
    • Trying a new recipe and having it come out perfectly.
    • Getting lost in a good book.
    • Discovering a new series for binge watching.
    • A perfect cup of coffee.

Waking up and having my 17 year old tortie Maggie come up to snuggle with me for awhile. I can’t think of a better way to begin a Sunday!

Watching Squirt snooze on her heated bed.
Watching Squirt drink from her fountain.
Staying in the present is much easier with her example.

Waking up to blue skies and sunshine.
My cat, Ramses, and I also enjoy sharing a shaft of sunlight.
Discovering a new pitcher on a carnivorous plant (Happy plant!).
Leisurely enjoying a drink and bite to eat at a favorite restaurant.
Saturday mornings at the Farmer’s Market.
    Warm summer nights.

One of my simple pleasures is having both my fur babies, Gigi and Maggie, sleeping peacefully on my lap without getting into a fight.

I have been doing a lot more reading lately. It’s always nice to get lost in a book. we do jigsaw puzzles too.

The best presents come in the smallest of boxes and the best of times come about when we least expect them. I could continue on telling tales of how the best of times come when we least expect them, just like this awful misery that we are surrounded by, will one day pack up an leave, taking all of its bad memories with it. Then the sun will be much brighter, and the grass much greener, and all the flowers will bloom again, spreading out their array of colors as shadows underneath the tall green trees.
