I’ve been feeling overwhelmed more often than not lately, and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. The open endedness of the current crisis, the way our world seems to be falling apart a little more every day, and the fact that just getting through each day seems to take far more effort than it ever did before are affecting my ability to maintain my center.
The advice offered in the above quote reminds me to put taking care of my mental and emotional health ahead of everything else.
It reminds me to focus on gratitude, to look for for the good news rather than focusing on the bad, and to make my self-care practice of meditating, walking, and eating healthy a priority.
And it reminds me that while “this too shall pass” can sound like a tired old cliché, like all clichés, it is actually far more true than the fear mongering we see so much of in our daily media exposure.
