Buckley’s Story 10th Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that this weekend marks the 10th anniversary of the publication of Buckley’s Story: Lessons from a Feline Master Teacher. When this little cat came into my life one spring day in 2005, I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams just how much she would change my life.

Without Buckley, I might not have become a writer. Without Buckley, The Conscious Cat might not exist. Even though Amber inspired this site, its original purpose, in addition to sharing my passion for making cats’ lives better, was to build a following prior to publishing Buckley’s Story. Most importantly, without her, my heart might not have been opened to the many wonderful lessons she taught me during her brief time with me.

The lessons she taught me ranged from relatively simple ones such as living in the moment (it sounds so easy, but can be oh so hard to do) to profound ones like opening the heart to all the possibilities life holds.

And while the lessons were life-changing for me, what I remember most about her is that this joyful little cat was a precious bundle of nothing but unconditional love.

The words that best summarize Buckley’s spirit are the same words you’ll find on the last page of her book:

Endless love and joy

Buckley must have been a very very special friend, companion and cat. But Buckley inspired your special inspiration in you, Ingrid. A great need to start telling stories of all those wonderful beautiful felines. And to you Ingrid, it seemed to always be the Tortie cats. Buckley will always be remembered in your heart, Ingrid and your reader’s hearts. Buckley is at peace in a wonderland of magic.

Ingrid, my special cat, BOO BOO kitty, came to me in a time of great turmoil in my life. We both “suffered” through that crazy life & both landed on our paws by the grace of the Heavenly Father Above. My dear soul mate, BOO, tearfully is no longer with me, but her spirit lives on in me and the lessons in life, as your dear, Buckley taught you, resonate with me as well. God Bless you & keep you in His shining light as well as Buckley’s!! I know my Boo shines down on me daily in all the things I do!

As I have told you before, when I adopted my first cat (Anya) back in 2014, the first book I read following her adoption was “Buckley’s Story.” I was so deeply touched by that book that now as the Cat-Daddy to three rescue kitties, I have a much greater appreciate for the wonderful and magical life that our cats let us share with them every day. The Conscious Cat has been with me every day since, to help me continue to be the best Cat-Daddy I can be. Thank you Ingrid for your wisdom and inspiration.

They all are, but Buckley truly was one of a kind.
