When it comes to cardboard scratchers, it doesn’t get much better than the Scratch Lounge. This three-sided scratcher will last far longer than other scratchers because of the reversible super-dense honeycomb construction of the pads. In fact, the design is so unique, it was issued a U.S. utility patent.

Scratch Lounge Features

  • The Original Scratch Lounge is the first 3-sided cat scratcher that your cat can use as both a scratch post and a place to lounge, nap and sleep
  • Reversible cardboard lounge scratch pad
  • Measures approximately 21″ x 13″
  • Comes with a baggie of catnip
  • Super dense honeycomb construction
  • Corrugated cardboard is 100% recyclable and contains no harmful materials

Putting the Scratch Lounge to the test

The folks at Scratch Lounge sent Allegra a Scratch Lounge Pro Pack Series for her 9th anniversary – how nice is that! We actually got our first Scratch Lounge five years ago. It’s being used almost every day, and it’s held up well in al that time!

As you can see in the photo above, Allegra was so excited, she didn’t even want to wait for me to take off the protective shrink wrap. As soon as I had it unwrapped, she went to town on it:

As you will see in the video below, Ruby has a somewhat different approach to scratching:

In addition to obviously being a hit with the girls, I love that the Scratch Lounge is less messy than other cardboard scratchers. The dense design results in fewer cardboard flakes, and the high sides contain the flakes that do get released, so it’s super easy to occasionally dump them into the trash.

In fact, all three of us love the Scratch Lounge so much  that we’re giving it our coveted Seal of Approval.

My Boo (who left me late in ’17) LOVED the Lounge. He would go to town on it scratching, especially when he was happy about something, then nap on it. I had to replace the center several times, but it was worth it when I watched him enjoying it so much.

Are these made in USA? I’m leary of anything from China after 2 kitties died of fast growing cancers at age 6. I used to buy Organic made in USA Cosmic Cat Alpine Scratchers–butmy pet store stopped carrying them, so got Kong scratchers made in China. The 2 who died so suddenly were the ones who used to eat the scratchings. 2 littermates who didn’t do that lived much longer.

The Scratch Lounge is made in Chicago. I’m so sorry about your kitties, Arlene.

Anything that Allegra and Ruby put their seal of approval has to be fantastic for us humans and of course all our furry friends. Allegra as usual jumped right in and gave it the one two, scratch scratch. But my dearest darling Ruby, please tell me what you were doing in the box; Ruby were you testing out the texture, or Ruby did you decide to take a nap? Not the time Ruby, wait till the demonstration is over, however, I did love just seeing your face.

I bought this exact product several months ago because my new adopted kitty, Dawn, was ripping up our dining room chairs. She hardly used the scratching two other scratching posts I bought for her. This cat scratch lounge became Dawn’s haven. It’s tucked away between laundry baskets. This lounge is her resting/sleeping area, her playtime place, and her rip-roarin’ scratch pad, It’s her fave place.. It came with catnip but she doesn’t appear to need or want it for the lounge. Best purchase (for Dawn) ever!

Debra, you can get it for $20 from chewy.com. Not just ordinary cardboard, this. When you see how much your cat enjoys it and how long it lasts, you’ll see the worth. And you can replace just the center, where cats scratch the most, so it lasts even longer.
I buy canned food from chewy.com, toys and sometimes litter. Their prices are good. Spend enough (I think it’s $50) and there’s no shipping and handling charge. I live in the city and don’t have a car, so having these supplies delivered is wonderful for me.

I’ve had them for a few years now. All the cats love them. I bought one for a friend last Christmas and she was so excited because her cat loved it.
