When it comes to cat beds, things don’t get  any more luxurious than the Sleepypod  Mobile Pet Bed. Not only is it multi-functional, serving as both carrier and bed, but with the Universal Warmer Kit, you can turn your kitty’s bed into an every cozier napping spot.

The Sleepypod Mobile Pet

While the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is, of course, a carrier, it’s also a luxury bed. Generously sized for even larger cats, it is lined with ultraplush foam. The domed cover unzips easily, so you can adapt it to your cat’s sleeping preference even while using it inside your home. Some cats may prefer the top removed, others may like the security of the cover.

The best way to get cats used to the carrier is to make it an attractive part of their everyday environment by placing it in what behaviorist call a “high value” location. This means in your living space, where you and your cats spend the most time together. Since the Sleepypod is not just super luxurious, but also gorgeous, it’s not exactly a hardship to have it out and visible at all times.

Optional Universal Warmer Kit

For kitties who like it extra cozy, or if you keep your home fairly cool in the winter months, the low wattage warmer is designed to maintain a toasty 102°F (39°C), perfect for those times when a human lap just isn’t available. The adapter with its quick disconnect cord is rated for 100-240 volts, 50 or 60 Hz. They also offer approved adapters available for use worldwide: USA (UL), Japan (PSE), Great Britain (CE TUV), Europe (CE GS TUV) and Australia (NSW20709).

Using the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed as a Carrier

When used as a carrier, the Sleepypod not only lets your cat travel in comfort, it’s also the safest cat carrier on the market. Their Pet Passenger Restraint System (PPRS) is a safety system designed to secure a pet in a vehicle and restrict harmful movement resulting from a sudden vehicle stop or frontal collision. Every Sleepypod carrier and harness includes PPRS components and features to improve pet passenger safety. Sleepypod certified their entire carrier lineup with Center for Pet Safety.

Carriers with easily removable tops or tops that open are ideal for stress-free veterinary visits. “Carriers with a top-opening design help make my interaction with my feline patients much calmer,” says feline veterinarian Dr. Fern Slack. “The Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is one of the the best I’ve seen. I love that the entire top simply zips away, so my patient does not have to be ‘dragged’ or ‘dumped’ out of a carrier that only opens to the front. Even better, I can often leave my patients sitting right in their own bed for most of the examination process.”

Our review of the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed

I think it’s the cadillac of cat carriers in terms of design, safety and ease of use. You can read our full review here. I also think the fact that it’s just so gorgeous is a big plus, as it will allow design-conscious cat parents to make the Sleepypod a regular part of their living space, which will make life less stressful for cats when it’s time to get into the carrier.

Cozy cat bed, safe and functional cat carrier – the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed has it all.

I can see a problem with these “pods.” After one trip to the vets in it, your cat will most likely avoid it in the house. Simple conditioning.

I have found the opposite to be true, Alice.

Pet stores sell warming pads without having to buy a pricey “pod.”
