Kach and Jonathan Howe had been thinking bout getting a friend for their sailor cat, Captain Ahab, so when they rescued a little kitten from a sewer canal in the Dominican Republic, they knew it was fate. Zissou fell in love with his big brother instantly and followed him everywhere. Captain Ahab wasn’t so sure about the kitten at first, but they quickly became inseparable, and Ahab taught Zissou how to be a good boat cat. For more about the pair, and more wonderful photos, visit or the Howes’ blog, where they share their adventures of sailing around the world.
