While battling the Carr fire near Redding, CA, firefighters came across an unlikely sight: a cat and a chicken had sought shelter in the doorway of a home, appearing to draw comfort from each other. After giving the two survivors a dish of water, firefighters were able to get them into a carrier and to a local SPCA for treatment. According to the Dodo, the two friends are doing well and have been reunited with their families. For more on this story and more photos of the unlikely pair, visit the Dodo.
