This giveaway is sponsored by Litter Genie

Today is National Cat Day – a “holiday” to focus on all the cats who need a home, to encourage cat adoption, and to share our love for kitties of all kinds! To celebrate, the folks at Litter Genie launched a new website a new fun and interactive website, StopCatLitterSmell.com with games, prizes, cat tips and more, and theyare giving away a Litter Genie to one lucky reader!

Cats do their business in litter because they want to cover their smell. This goes back to their wild origins, were covering urine and feces avoided discovery by predators. To keep our cats as well as our noses happy, the litter box should be scooped at least once a day, ideally more than that.

But how do you ensure that your house stays smelling fresh and how do you cut down on trips to the trash?

Litter Genie to the rescue. Litter Genie is the nose-friendly, hassle-free compact cat litter disposal system. The Litter Genie pail has an airtight design, and its refills have 7 layers and a special odor-barrier technology to seal in stinky odors.

The Litter Genie works in 3 simple steps:

1. Scoop the soiled litter
2. Open the lid and drop it in
3. Pull the handle to seal in the odor

Each bag holds up to two weeks of soiled litter for one cat, and each Standard Refill lasts up to 8 weeks for one cat.

I could really use this disposal system because one of my cats has really odorous stool due to Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and I have to clean the litter box frequently. Also, I sometimes run out of grocery bags to use for litter disposal.

I think the Litter Genie could help us reduce any lingering odor after we’ve disposed of the litter bag and also help reduce the number of bags we use – that’s a win-win – less smell and less plastic bags going into the environment!

My cats are aging, and their litter box habits are changing, so I think a litter genie would work out well for the new daily scooping required, rather than their old Litter Robot.

I’d like to try the Litter Genie because right now I scoop litter into doggy poop bags before putting them in the trash to reduce odor, but even that doesn’t work when the lid of the trash can is brought up. I’d be interested in seeing if the Litter Genie works better.

I love ours, but after 5 years it’s time to replace it. Pipers is a very demanding cat, and if I don’t clean her litter box several times a day she lets me know it. The compact size hold a lot. We need a new one!
