When I visited the offices of Spirit Essences while I was out in Southern California for CatConLA, the wonderful staff presented me with a number of awesome gifts, inlcuding the Comfy Clamshell from the Jackson Galaxy Collection by Petmate.
Mojo, Spirit Essences’ office cat, demonstrated the versatile bed that can go from cozy hideaway to lounging pad. It features a soft plush inside, and a durable polyester outside. It’s super easy to convert this bed. To turn it into a cat bed, simply tighten the rope that goes around the outer perimeter, and then tuck the extra rope away into a cleverly designed pocket to keep it out of the way. To turn it back into a soft lounge pad, just undo the fastener and loosen the rope until the bed lays flat.
I was skeptical because Allegra and Ruby don’t really use cat beds, no matter how nice they are, and neither of them was interested in the Comfy Clamshell when I had it configured as a bed. But as soon as I spead it out flat, Ruby decided it was the best thing I’d ever brought home.
This giant lounging pad takes up on awful lot of space in my relatively small living room, but Ruby loves it so much and naps on it every single day, so how could I not leave it out for her? Thankfully, it’s purple, which is one of my favorite colors!
We’ve had the Comfy Clamshell for four months now, and in all that time, I’ve only ever seen Allegra on it once – and Ruby chased her off the bed within a few seconds of me snapping this photo. It’s not like they wouldn’t both fit on it, but while they enjoy spending time in the same room together, they don’t snuggle.
The Comfy Clamshell is available from Amazon with free shipping for Prime members.
