Review: Close Encounters of the Furred Kind

After reviewing Tom Cox’s The Good, The Bad, and the Furry: Life With the World’s Most Melancholy Cat last year, I became a fan. I read his previous first two books, Under the Paw: Confessions of a Cat Man and Talk to the Tail: Adventures in Cat Ownership and Beyond, and I was delighted when I received a review copy of Tom’s newest book, Close Encounters of the Furred Kind.

In this heartwarming and humorous memoir about a man and his cats, Cox continues to share his cat-centric life with his readers. Tom is moving forward with his girlfriend Gemma, there’s a new feline addition to the family, and Tom, Gemma and the cats move to a new home.

We once again get to spend time with The Bear, a cat who carries the weight of the world on his furry shoulders, Ralph, a tabby who enjoys meowing his own name at top volume, Shipley, Ralph’s brother, who likes to steal food and talk trash, and Roscoe, the lone female in the group who always seems to be late for something very important.

This delightful book will make you smile and often laugh out loud, and you’ll probably recognize yourself and some of the cats who have shared your life in the pages.

Close Encounters of the Furred Kind is available from Amazon and everywhere books are sold.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. Receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

I can’t believe I haven’t yet read any of his books! I must look for them right away. Thanks for sharing.
