CATcaps

This giveaway is sponsored by Capsuline

Pilling cats can be challenging. One option that can make the process easier is using empty gel caps. Since they’re capsules, they slide down the cat’s esophagus easily. They are especially useful for cats who are taking multiple medications at the same time: simply open the capsule, put all the meds in the capsule together, and administer. Instead of having to give multiple pills, you only have to pill your cat once.

Gel caps also avoid the dangers of “dry pilling” (giving pills without following with a syringe full of water) a practice that can cause serious damage to the delicate lining of the esophagus.

Capsuline CATcaps: flavored gel caps  for cats

Capsuline, a manufacturer of hardshell gelatin, vegetable and flavored capsules, has taken the gel cap concept one step further and has added flavoring to the capsules, making administration even easier. CATcaps are available in chicken and beef flavor.

  1. My cat is on several meds per day for chronic issues. He is very good about taking pills and sometimes reminds me when it’s time. I have been using plain gel caps. Sometimes to give 2 pills at one time and sometimes just to prevent him from the taste of a nasty flavored pill especially if it is cut. Either way, he gets 5 capsules per day. I love the idea of flavored gel caps to make it that much nicer for my sweet boy.

  2. I think this would be a great easy way to get meds into my furbaby. She don’t like her meds as is, she’s like a fussy toddler only a cat lol

  3. What a great product!! I love that you can give multiple pills at once too 🙂 Giving our senior cat her meds is so stressful for us both so this would make things much easier.

  4. Regular gelcaps were a huge help with my kitty with lymphoma; I bet these flavored ones would be even better. I’d love to try these with my 2 impossible-to-pill girls!

  5. It would be easier and kinder than trying to shove a pill down my cat’s throat when she needs to take her medicine.

  6. This is a really great idea. Giving my cat a pill is like trying to get the pill down a snarling and squirming ball of fur. You are actually risking injury to yourself. I always ask the vet in case there is a liquid form of the medication available.

  7. I have a terrible time pilling my cats so would love anything that makes the process easier on both my cats and myself!

  8. I’ve never heard of this product and would love to try it on my cats. The gift card is an added plus.

  9. Wow, this would be ideal for the fosters who have been a part of our home! They come and grow, and then they all have their issues, and pilling will always be a part of being a foster!

  10. My cat would like these because she hates taking medication. I always have to trick her, but she knows what I’m up to.

  11. Dry pilling is a huge problem with cats, but another is that many medications are extremely bitter and make subsequent pilling difficult, if not impossible. These would definitely solve that problem!

  12. It would be wonderful to have an easier method to medicate our sweeties. Something tasty and non-traumatic sounds ideal! Thanks for the giveaway and for bringing this product to my attention.

  13. I would love to win for my cat, Bubba, who has to take blood pressure meds every night. This would really help getting that forth of a pill down. Thank you.

  14. My cats are cray-cray for real when it comes to me pilling them! So this would be ideal! Thanks for the chance to win!

  15. We lost our senior Maine Coon, Koneko, back in February. I always had to struggle to give him his medications while he was still here, and we have two other cats….well, actually three, since I just rescued a tiny kitten yesterday and we plan on keeping her. I know that through their lives, there will be times we need to give them medicine, and anything that helps with that will help keep them happy and healthy. So, winning these would be great.

  16. My senior cat with kidney disease gets mirtazapine every other day to help her eat and drink enough to stay healthy as she’s an extremely picky eater naturally. Pilling her is impossible – even in a towel – because she holds the pill in her mouth for a long time and spits it out. I have to follow her around if I’m even successful in getting it in. So I’ve been putting it into a gel cap (because it’s bitter) and hiding it in her food which is usually successful, although it sometimes takes more than one try. I think having flavored gel caps would make it work so much better, although I wish they came in a smaller size (I currently use size 5). But I’m willing to try size 3 and in fact am going to order some, but I hope to win anyway.

  17. Giving medications is so stressful for both my kitties and for me! This is certainly a much better way. Thanks for your giveaway. I would love to be your winner.

  18. I’ll be getting a couple of kittens soon, and I’ll need all the help I can get to care for them. CATcaps sound like a great way to help get medication down.

  19. My cat Fou needs Lysine crushed up and put into his food because he has feline herpes which causes an ulcer to form on his eye without it. The problem is that Fou often avoids his food and picks off of thr other cats’ food. In addition, due to life circumstances, I am staying in a home where the feeding style and schedule is radically different from how I fed him, making it even more difficult to administer his meds to him. These capsules would help me out a lot. I wouldn’t have to be as meticulous as I am about a feeding schedule. In addition, it would mean Fou wouldn’t have to eat little bits of crushed up pill with his food.

  20. I have 5 senior kitties. 2 of them receive hyperthyroid pills twice a day. 4 pillings! I would love to try the gelcaps especially as they sound more cat friendly.

  21. I have to administer a med to my cat everyday. She is extremely allergic to alot of things so I must be very careful what she is given. If I do win this wonderful product it must be the beef or else she can not use it. thank you

  22. These sound like a smart way to get meds into our furkids. Would love to win them for my now senior kitties!
