“To call torties misunderstood would be the understatement of the year; the misinformed and un-initiated might just see them as moody, grouchy or mean! In this book, Ingrid brings all of her talent, skill and heart to the job of setting the tortie record straight. Anybody who has had the honor of sharing their life with a tortie (like me, as you can see from these pictures of my dear, departed Chuppy) owes Ingrid a debt of gratitude, because she has taken the stereotype, turned it on its head, and opened the world’s eyes to the true meaning of tortitude.”

I have a tortie and she is the best furbaby ever. Dhani just turned 1 so she is not a baby kitten anymore. But she does wake me daily and sit in my lap often enough. She owns me.

I would love to win Tortitude: The BIG Book fo Cats with a BIG Attitude in honor of Cheyenne the therapy Cat, my dear departed dilute tortie who was, as the page name implies, a therapy cat. She defied the stereotypes, and went to nursing homes, schools, scout troop meetings, and senior services centers, and didn’t care who held her, as long as someone did. Then, I would donate the book to our local cat shelter, from which I took her as a foster at the age of 4 weeks, starving and full of fleas. She saved my father’s life, while he saved hers. Six months later, both of their miracles were complete!

Although I’ve been owned by every sort of cat now & in the past, I’ve never had a tortie in my life. Everything I read by Ingrid about them just piques my interest even more. I’d love to win this book because I know I’ll never be able to buy it. (Sorry Ingrid, just the facts)

Oh my gosh! I would be thrilled to win this book. I have a tortie named Sophie, and I adore her. She has such a typical tortitude personality and keeps me constantly guessing what she will do next. She is the Queen of the house and she knows it.

My daughter and I inherited a tortie when her friend moved back into her mother’s house and couldn’t bring her cat with her. I keep telling my daughter about tortie “tortitude”, but she just doesn’t get it. She doesn’t like her because she thinks the cat is just mean. This really upsets me. I need to make her understand that torties are just like that. We argue about her all the time. She wants to give her away, and I told her “No way!” She wasn’t really socialized when we got her. We think she was pretty much ignored in her old home. She is finally coming around now, and will actually seek out attention. I really think this book will help. I’ve wanted to read it ever since I knew it was being written. She really is a sweet cat now. Well, MOST of the time!!

I would love to win a copy of Tortitude! Wish comments included pictures so I could share some of Bindi Bunnyfur, my Tortie with white, who has heaps of commentary in equal measurements to her lovableness. We moved from Southern California to Vancouver Washington recently to caretake my 89 years young dog loving Mom, who is being won over by Bindi’s charm.

I never knew anything about Torties, and only knew one neighbor with a stereotypical Calico — beautiful but Very fickle! That is, until my first long-term fostering of an ancient clinic cat that an employee was hell-bent on getting rid of, so accepted her as a foster for whatever time she had remaining. She was NOT what the nasty vet staff person had claimed. She was a quiet but lovely and loving member of the herd here until her final day as a very senior lady. Then I became mom over ten years ago to a litter of nearly dead kittens; they were adopted out except for one that had been spoken for but he was a chronic no-show, so my Molly has been here ever since. She’s not the stereotypical “cattitude” kitty either. Very sweet and affectionate to everyone, well other than one very annoying male cat that joined the herd a few years ago and quire frankly I don’t blame her for hissing and growling at him when he’s near; he’s great with humans & most other cats but can be a bully.

Anyway, I’d love to read about others’ views of the Tortie in the book, because my two experiences have been only positive.
