Mews and Nips: Manifesto for Cats Puts Feline Welfare on Political Agenda in the UK

cats-protection

Last month, British animal charity Cats Protection launched the first ever Manifesto for Cats at a House of Commons reception. Among the measures demanded in the manifesto are the inclusion of animal welfare in the National Curriculum, clear labeling of plants toxic to cats, compulsory microchipping of all cats and  including animal welfare in the National Curriculum so children learn how to nurture and care for a pet. Read more about the manifesto on the Cats Protection website.

If you missed any of the stories featured on The Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Sunday, we celebrated our 6th anniversary with a huge giveaway, on Monday, we told you how to care for your cat’s eyes, on Tuesday, we gave you some tips on how to deal with shedding, on Wednesday, we heard from Ernesto the Kitten, who is a central character in Clea Simon’s new mystery, on Thursday, we told you how you can help fight cancer by watching cat videos, and on Friday we reviewed Kittens Can Kill (enter to win an autographed copy!).

Cats have a reputation of being lazy, and the kitty in today’s video takes lazy to a whole new level. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!

We LOVE that they’re doing this in the UK! We hope the Manifesto becomes law.
