Mews and Nips: World’s Oldest Living Cat

Just three weeks ago, we reported on Tiffany Two, the 27-year-old tortie from San Diego who currently holds the Guinness World Record for being the world’s oldest living cat. It looks like Tiffany won’t hold her title for very long. Missan, a 29-year-old Swedish farm cat, has Tiffany beat by two years. According to The Telegraph, Åsa Wickberg found Missan as a kitten in 1985, and quickly adopted her. “I read an article about another cat that was supposed to be the world’s oldest, and I just thought to myself: ‘mine is older!’,” she told the TT news agency. If you missed any of the stories featured on The Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we explained how to check your cat’s vital signs, on Tuesday, we announced that James Bowen is raising funds to open Bob’s World Cat Café in London, on Wednesday, we answered the question whether it’s okay to feed your cat table scraps, on Thursday, we gave you seven reasons to keep cats indoors, and on Friday, we reviewed Rescued: The Stories of 12 Cats, Through Their Eyes.

Like so many of you, I am utterly and totally in love with Lil BUB. Today’s video shows BUB being dried after a bath. The bond between her and her Dude just melts my heart. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!

What I also love so much about Bub’s dude is how very well he cares for her. The treatments he gives… and the therapy? That’s a dedicated cat dad.

Sorry to quibble, but isn’t “the oldest living cat” a bit redundant? He has to be alive to qualify I’m thinking….I digress…
