Review: Peach Industries Kitty Lounger

I love products that combine function with design – especially when it comes to cat products. The Peach Industries Kitty Lounger was what happened when an industrial designer married an animal crazy registered veterinary technician. Mike and Georgia Barbush, like so many pet guardians, found it challenging to maintain a sleek asthetic amid all the toys, scratchers and beds. That’s why they decided to turn their home into a design-conscious heaven of pet comfort and entertainment.

I was delighted when Georgia offered to send us a Kitty Lounger for review. This lounger is the ultimate cat hammock, featuring a lightweight, yet solid wood frame, and a heavy-duty canvas cover, which comes in many different colors and patterns. Of course, I picked the purple one!

The lounger arrived in a flat box, which made me a little apprehensive. As those of you who’ve read my product reviews for a while know, the words “some assembly required” tend to make me break out in a cold sweat. I shouldn’t have worried. Assembling the Kitty Lounger only involves sliding the four separate pieces of the frame into grooves, and sliding the cover over the top edges. That’s it! It comes with adhesive foam pads that can be applied to the legs to prevent sliding and scratches on floors. Since ours is used on carpet, I didn’t apply them.

The Kitty Lounger is very sturdy, yet lightweight, so it can be easily moved. I love that it’s made from VOC-free sustainably forested birch plywood. The wood gives the lounger a nice, clean look – you definitely don’t want to hide this one in a corner. The covers are machine washable and made with 100% USA grown and woven cotton.

Allegra and Ruby took a little while to warm up to the lounger, but once they got over the initial novelty, they’ve both been using it regularly. I almost envy them when they lounge on it, because it just looks so comfortable!

The Kitty Lounger comes in two sizes. We got the full size one which is intended for cats  up to 20 pounds. They also make a Kitty Lounger Mini, which is for cats up to 15 pounds.

We adore ours! In fact, Maxie’s a teensy bit territorial about it! (film at 11)

Looks very cool. I like the purple one. Are they easy to tip over if you have a couple rambunctious cats?

It’s pretty sturdy. Ruby has taking a “flying leap” or two at it and it remained standing! 🙂

My cats love the kitty lounger. They are ragdolls and what Ingrid is saying is true. My cats also leap on it; have actually seen it slide a few feet across the hardwood floor and it’s still standing! I think it is so great that I ordered another one and a matching cover. I might buy a couple more covers so when I wash one, I can put the other one on.
