It’s finally here! Today is the official launch of the long-awaited book Catification: Designing a Happy and Stylish Home for Your Cat (and You!) by Jackson Galaxy and Kate Benjamin. This beautifully designed book is chock full of tips and tricks to catify every living space. Filled with creative examples, Catification is meant to inspire cat guardians to catify their own homes. The projects featured in the book can be adapted to any style or budget, and you donโ€™t have to be a master carpenter to implement the ideas. The book also takes a look behind the scenes of My Cat From Hell to get a closer look at some of the projects Jackson and Kate have tackled together.

To celebrate the launch of the book, we’re giving away three copies autographed by both authors to three lucky readers!

  1. I’d like to get shelves up all over the walls as well as an enclosed porch for them to safely lounge outdoors. This book would be very helpful!!

  2. i have two cats who get bored in the winter in our snowny cold northern new york. im going to build a super highway and cat tree to help with their oredom and restlessness.

  3. My hubby and I moved into our first home a few months ago. We are in the process of planning catification in the home and a large catio for our furbabies to enjoy outside. ^_^

  4. I would love to build shelves around our house (680 sqft). Also, get an outdoor play area for our Egyptian Mau, that goes from window to window.

  5. I would like to create more space for my 2 big boys in our small apartment. Even though I take them outside on leashes daily, they still have extra pounds the vet told us to loose. I would like for them to be more active indoors. I try to engage them in playtime everyday but seem to bore them. I could go on and on…..I just want to give them the best life that I can.

  6. We currently have a fairly small house. We have a nice, large cat tower for our kitties, but I would like to add some cat shelves in the living room to provide them with more access to the world above ground-level. We also have a small nook in our stairwell that I would love to convert to a kitty nook with scratches, shelves, ramps, and maybe a sleeping spot or two. It is near a window, so they would be able to view the outside world from their private nook.

  7. My 14 year old cat needs exercise! She won’t play any more and her only exercise is up and down stairs when she goes out (nice weather only) to our enclosed back yard. She hunts gophers there — frozen in concentration for over an hour at times! She used to weigh 24 lbs — she’s a very big girl. She lost 5+ lbs because she just stopped eating crunchies and will only eat canned now. But the vet says she’s OK.

I need to find a way for her to move more — and maybe have some fun!

p.s. catnip makes her only more mellow, not hyping her up at all.

  8. My home is already ‘catified’ but my cats have asked me to try to win this book so we have even more ideas. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am looking for a good way to grow cat grass inside during the winter without my cat eating it before it can grow. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. I have ten cats, all rescues and we are having some problems with bullying. I would love to get some ideas on ways to spread them out and de-stress the house.

  10. I want to add shelves to my walls. I have a multi- cat house and have applied a few other things like more litter boxes, different litters, more beds, and posts. This has helped with some of the bad behavior. I have learned so much already!

  11. I adopted a 4.5 year old male, long-term sheltered, less adoptable cat. He has been in the “bonding room” for months and just now beginning to ‘pet me’, I am starting my life over too and I think it would be wonderful to give my brave-heart kitty a catopia of ramps, clouds, window seats, etc. He deserves to own his new home with confidence. I would like to give him a very special environment to explore outside of his self-imposed “box”.

  12. I just moved into a house with my daughter and our 5 rescue cats . The third bedroom I am designing
for them and hopefully with help because I am disabled ,we will design the third bedroom for them- the bedroom window opens onto a screen porch which is left open for them and we are going to build a outdoor catification too that is attach to the porch with a doggie door. So they can move freely.

  13. I only have one 7 year old left who likes to carry her toys around, so I’d like to explore ideas that allow vertical movement yet would be safe for her when she has her mouth full. She needs more stimulation since we have lost her old friends.

  14. I would love to win an autographed copy of Catification as I am a devoted fan of ‘My Cat From Hell’. Unfortunately, these contests are not available in Canada and we are not allowed to watch show episodes online if we miss an episode. Jackson has a huge following worldwide so it would be nice if fans outside the US could participate in contests too.

We recently adopted to rescue kittens from our local Humane Society a few months after our beautiful girl 16 year old, Pussum passed away from advanced kidney disease. Our 2 boys are quite the bundles of curious energy so it would be awesome if we could provide some shelving in the livingroom and my office so they can watch what is going on without climbing on tables and my desk. We have perches and cat trees but they don’t seem to be enough.

  15. My cat is semi blind and suffers from seizures. She is only 2 and a half years old. She tries to climb but she has a problem getting down. I purchased a commercial cat tree but she only gets half way up then she has problems getting down. I would love to find a way for her to enjoy the climbing with out worrying that she may fall or have a seizure then fall. I would love to make my whole house more cat friendly. She loves playing on the steps leading to the second floor. In our old house she used to fall from the second floor then bounce down the steps. I broke her fall twice by catching her in mid fall. My husband says her depth perception is horrible.

  16. I would like to set up a catio for my cat Ada. She used to be a stray and loves sitting in the open windows. I’d love for her to be a bit more outside without actually being in danger from the wildlife, mainly coyotes, around here.

  17. We have 9 cats which we rescued. At the present time, we have condos and combo of condos/scratching posts. We have enough wall space to make some kind of super highway and shelving, which, I feel, some of my friends would appreciate and keep them interested/moving.

  18. Jackson I have 2 overweight cats that seem to both be tree dwellers. I am fascinated by the Large hamster style wheel that sets up on the floor and would get these pudgy felines into shape however I live in a small apt with my 19 yr old daughter and a Jack Russell Terrier. A wall mounted Cat Wheel seems to be in order, perhaps near a window. I am just confused as to how to keep it safe…any ideas?

  19. Now that our daughter is in college, we would love to catify her bedroom, where they love to hang out. We cleaned up the neighborhood after the housing market crashed and found homes for over 34 cats and kittens! We now have an animal permit for the “special needs: cats that no one would adopt, but they are loved and cared for! You have taught me things that I never knew, and verified much that I did know! Keep up the great work, saving cats and their owners!

  20. I have 3 cat trees but need to figure out a way to do shelves in their cat room and in our living room. We have 1 cat that can jump to the top of our hutch in the kitchen and the feral cat they we retrained so wants to join her up high.

  21. I would like to expand the catification of my sunroom to make a kittie jungle for my fur babies. I’d also like to put up shelves, ramps, and hammocks along the large wall behind my couch.

  22. I would like to know what i can do for my 7 cats in my very small house. I have ran out of ideas for my house it is small and rooms are small with door ways every where. They are ages 4 to 9 years old and they get into these running spurts and they run into things. I would like for them to have somewhere they can lay in front of window right now they are using my old book case for that. By the i love your shows and i started using your peacemaker on them no change yet though. ๐Ÿ™‚ <3

  23. I have 18 indoor and about 20 outdoor cats I care for daily. I would love to have the current indoor cat room totally redone to make the cats happier. Right now it is just an extra bedroom with scratchers, window seats and toys.

  24. I have a 12 foot wall in my living room that I would love to catify for our six cats who range in age from 5 months to 15 years. I would like to incorporate jumping, climbing and hiding activities, but still have an artistic and attractive looking space.

  25. I would love this book to help with better ideas for getting our cat up. She has her cat tree and windows, but would like some more ideas! She loves to be able to look around from up high! Thanks! Amanda

  26. We have one room about 3/4 catified, but need to extend out to the rest of the house. We also need to figure out more elements that start at the floor and gradually work up the wall, without taking up too much floorspace in a very small house. Kitties are getting older and starting at table height isn’t always as easy as it once was.

  27. I’d like to add shelves and other interesting things to our home, but have it fit into our present decor. I love the ideas that I’ve seen on My Cat From Hell!

  28. My husband and I have 13 kitties we have taken in, most from owners who have left them when they moved. In addition, we take care of a small group of feral kitties. We follow Jackson Galaxy on fb, and would really love to have his book. We would like to catify our home so the babies can spread out some more and have their own space. We have built a couple of shelves and they love them. We need some ideas on building an enclosure for them to be able to get some fresh air when they want. Something where they can travel in and out as they wish. We think this book would help give our furbabies a great place to play. Just a note: All of our babies are spayed or neutered and see a vet regularly, even the ferals. Thank you
