Mews and Nips: Pet Travel Tips from Jackson Galaxy

Cat Daddy Jackson Galaxy knows cats. Jackson also knows a lot about traveling. Between filming episodes for My Cat from Hell in locations around the United States, and appearing at various events around the country, Jackson told Condé Nast Traveler that he expects to be traveling “in the neighborhood of 200 to 225 days” this year.  As a result, Jackson knows how to make a hotel room feel like home, for you and your four-legged travel companion. Read Jackson’s tips on traveling with pets on The Daily Traveler.

If If you missed any of the stories featured on The Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: on Monday, we shared information on how stem cell therapy helped a cat with stomatitis, on Tuesday, we introduced an innovative solution for feeding and litter box problems in multipet households and told you about the Vet Superhero contest, on Wednesday, we shared tips on going green with your cat, and on Friday, we reviewed Grey Howl by Clea Simon. And don’t forget to enter our giveaway for a one month supply of Simple Solution’s 30-Day Litter.

Today’s video shows that the appeal of toilet paper is not limited to our house cats. Apparently, big cats love toilet paper, too!

Have a great weekend!

Any tips on flying vs driving with a cat?
I’m moving and I can’t decide if I should fly there or drive (it’d be a multiday drive). Flying would be hard to bring all the bulky cat stuff but it’d be a lot faster. Driving would be easy to bring everything but I’m worried the length of time would stress him out even more.

What kind of cat treats do you use? Where can we find them or do you make your own?

I like the freeze dried chicken treats, Eldine. There are a number of different brands on the market, just make sure the only ingredient is chicken with nothing else added.

Cute video. Looks like the big cats love it just as much. Happy Easter.

I am always enthralled by how similar the behavior is between our domestic friends and those that are wild. It breaks my heart when people try to tame wild cats, but thankfully there are organizations to take care of wild cats when needed.
Purrs from the Zee and Zoey Gang!
