Mews and Nips: Stray Cat Promoted to Assistant Librarian

Arguably, there’s no better combination than cats and books, so when I saw the story about Kuzya, a Russian stray who became a library cat, on Catsparella, I just had to share it with you. The stray cat showed up one day in search of food and shelter, and the library staff at the Novorossiysk Childrens Library couldn’t resist his sweet nature. Now Kuzya is hard at work entertaining young visitors, looking cute, and sleeping. Visit Catsparella to read the full story, and for more photos of Kuzya at work.

If you missed any of the stories featured on The Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: On Monday, we told you about the new feline vaccination guidelines released by the AAFP, on Tuesday, we provided tips on how to make moving with cats less stressful, on Wednesday, Allegra and Ruby were interviewed for a research project on feline personalities, on Thursday, we featured the Light a Candle for a Pet campaign, and on Friday, we shared a very special comic strip with you.

Today’s video has been around for a while, but I love it so much, I had to share it again. Enjoy!

Have a great weekend!

I love how some libraries have cats.

As Edward Gorey said: “Books, cats, life is good.”

There is just something so comforting about the thought of a cat in a library…

What a great story about the library cat. That sure would make me go to a library more. Love books and cats.

Thanks for the video re-run. I have seen it before, too, but I love seeing kitties out and about and getting real life experiences.

What a sweet story. He looks very happy being a library cat! I probably would pay more attention to him instead of the books if i were there. :). Sharing the story on facebook so some of my friends may enjoy it.
