Gmail users

Thank you for being a loyal reader and part of our Conscious Cat community!

Allegra, Ruby and I want to be sure that you don’t miss any of our daily posts in the future. If you subscribe to The Conscious Cat with a Gmail address, you should know Google is rolling out new features to their email service. They will automatically filter your past and future email messages into “Primary,” “Social,” “Promotions,” “Updates,” and “Forums” tabs. Our Conscious Cat posts will be categorized as “Promotions” and placed in a separate inbox. If you haven’t seen these changes in your Gmail account yet, they will be coming soon.

This means you won’t see updates from The Conscious Cat in your “Primary” inbox unless you change how the Gmail service handles our emails.

To make sure that you continue to receive our daily posts, all you need to do is drag this email from the “Promotions” tab to the “Primary” tab. A small alert will pop up. Click “yes” and that’s it! From now on our emails will continue to go to your “Primary” inbox.

If you want to go back to having all your emails appear in one inbox (so you don’t have to check five of them), click on “Settings” in the upper right corner, then click on “Configure Inbox.” Unselect all categories but “Primary” and save your changes. You’ll have one inbox with all your email messages again.

I hope this has been helpful to you!

  1. I receive your newsletter through my yahoo! account and get it forwarded to my gmail inbox, where it hasn’t been put but into primary tab… luckyly 🙂

    • This does affect users whose email from other accounts is forwarded into Gmail, MissyToby – I’m glad it went into your Primary tab!

  2. Agreed, thanks very much for this. I almost never use the web mail part of gmail but not sure how this will affect how gmail is downloaded to my phone or iPad. Sounds like another case of somebody trying to do our thinking for us, if I wanted all that crap separated I’d just create mail filters and do it myself.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Tom Mary Beth and the furries.
