Mews and Nips: Special Squee Edition

When Robin Olson, the president and founder of Kitten Associates and author of Covered in Cat Hair, lost Fred, a 10-month-old kitten, to FIP last month, she was reluctant to foster any more cats. There had been too much heartbreak, and Robin felt like she needed a break. But yet, she was haunted by a longing to be around kittens.

And then, at the beginning of June, Robin felt directed to open her heart again. When a friend called her about a mother cat who had just had five kittens on a sidewalk in a tough part of Bridgeport, CT, Robin stepped up and took the little family in.

Mom Minnie, and kittens Joey, Petey, Mellie, Stan, and Lil’ Gracey (named in honor of Gracey, The Tiniest Tiger who passed away last month), are thriving. And best of all, you can watch the little family on Squee TV, a live webcam coming to you direct from Kitten Associates’ kitten room!

Be forewarned: Squee TV is highly addictive! I will not be held responsible for any resulting loss of productivity on your part.

If you missed any of the stories featured on The Conscious Cat this week, here’s a recap: On Monday, we shared exciting news about a research breakthrough which offers hope for an eventual cure for FIP, on Wednesday, we addressed the question of why cats are so fascinated by bathrooms. And don’t forget to enter our giveaway for some wonderful cat greeting cards!

Have a great weekend!

I am so glad Robin was able to open her heart and take these kitties in. They are just so precious and I hope they all find wonderful furever homes when they are ready to be adopted.

I know Robin will make sure that they find the best homes, Deb. I don’t know how she will be able to let these cuties go,though…

Well darn, I will have to come back. They are all asleep. What fun. I might just have to stay all day. LOL. Hope you are doing well Ingrid. Hugs to the girls.

We admire those who can foster kitties. Our mom says she doesn’t think she could do it.

I couldn’t do it, either – but thank God for people like Robin, who can and do.
