Everywhere you turn these days, a cat seems to be running for office. We’ve previously reported on Tuxedo Stan, who is running for mayor of Halifax. Hank the cat is running for a senate seat in Virginia. And apparently even Hello Kitty is getting in on the fun. According to Catsparella, she is running for president (yes, of the United States), and not surprisingly, her campaign comes complete with plenty of merchandise to keep fans and collectors happy.
Controversy is no stranger to politcians, and one cat who is already holding office may have gotten into some political hot water. Mayor Stubbs, who is in charge of the small town of Takleetna, Alaska, was receiving some criticism when he was unavailable for a meeting with Alaska’s governor, who visited the town after a recent flood. Had Stubbs fallen down on the job? Perhaps his (water) drinking problem caught up with him? Where was Mayor Stubbs as the Talkeetna River levee broke and water started pouring in? You’ll have to read the full story on the Alaska Dispatch to find out.
Most of us think of Arnold Schwarzenegger when we hear the term “The Terminator,” but now, this name belongs to one tough, and very lucky, cat. CatTime’s story about a two-legged kitten who showed up on a Georgia woman’s doorstep touched my heart. She named the kitten “The Terminator” because the kitten kept coming back when she first started feeding the cat. When she took a closer look, she noticed that Terminator’s tail appeared to be broken off, one back leg had a swollen knot at the joint, and the other limb was bowed out. Despite veterinarians telling the woman that the kitten should be put to sleep, she persisted in getting her treatment. The damaged limbs needed to be amputated, but just like the character in the movie, Terminator didn’t quit. “Now she plays with her brother and gets around the house…so playful and loving,” says her rescuer.
