Okay, admit it: is this book cover totally cute? Not to mention hot? When this book caught my eye at my local Barnes and Noble store a while back, I just had to buy it. I do enjoy a nice romance novel every once in a while, and if there’s a cat in it, so much the better.
I did read the back cover before I bought it, just to make sure there really was a cat in the book, and yes, right there, it said “There’s nothing like working with animals, having a forlorn, grumpy stray kitten make its home under your desk…”
Animal Attraction is the story of glamorous city girl Jade who runs from a traumatic event in her past and finds herself in a quiet ranching town in Idaho, working for Dell Connelly, the local veterinarian. It’s your typical romance, with chemistry and attraction sizzling between the two protagonists, and you know from the very first page that they’ll end up together, you just don’t know how they’re going to overcome all the obstacles they face along the way.
The veterinary setting enhanced the reading experience for me. The animals in the book are wonderful and are a part of the story, from Bones the abandoned kitten, to Gertie the St Bernard, to Peanut the parrot. The secondary characters are all immensely likeable.
This is a light, funny, steamy read – a guilty pleasure, complete with a kitten, that left me smiling and wanting more.
Animal Attraction is the second in a series. The first book, Animal Magnetism, with an equally adorable cover, features a puppy and a heroine who runs an animal shelter. I’m hoping that the series will continue, because I’ve come to really like the inhabitants of Sunshine, Idaho, and their assorted critters.

Thank You Ingrid, I will tell mom to check on this one : )
I hope your mom enjoys the book, Mr. Puddy!
Okay, so is the half naked guy on the cover, the vet?? And why is he holding a kitten with no shirt on? Oh, yeah…sex sells, MOL. Interesting book review today Miss Ingrid!
Yes, Julia, that would be the vet. Don’t you wish you had a vet like that ;-)?
I do agree that that cover is quite interesting! I am normally not into romance books but based on your wonderful recommendation I may have to check it out!
I knew the cover would get everyones’ attention, Caren!
Woah . . . I couldn’t believe the cover when it finished downloading – way to get my attention early in the morning, Ingrid! The book sounds interesting, especially the veterinary angle (as opposed to just throwing in a kitten-owning hottie to attract us animal lovers), so I think I might have to read this one. Yes, I read romance novels occasionally, too – they’re a quick, enjoyable read, and I like knowing the protagonists will eventually wind up together, no matter what insurmountable obstacles get in the way. Thanks for the recommendation, Ingrid!
It is quite a cover, isn’t it, Bobbi? I think you’d enjoy this one.
Thanks for the book review. That cover would stop HH in her tracks too. Very cute.
Just voted…. Yay… you are leading.
