It’s Black Friday, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll stay far far away from stores today. Online shopping has made holiday shopping easier and, as far as I’m concerned, more fun. If I have a choice between crowded stores, and sitting in front of my computer with a cat in my lap and a cup of hot chocolate by my side, I’ll take option B any day!
The holidays will be here before you know it, and unless you’re one of those super organized people, you’re probably still shopping for gifts.
Here are some ideas for the cats and cat lovers on your gift list. By buying these products, you’ll not only get some really wonderful gifts, you’ll also support small businesses, most of them run out of the owners’ homes.
Great Rescues: A 16-month Calendar and Gift Book by animal artist Bernadette Kazmarski features 16 portraits of rescued cats Bernadette has been commissioned to paint in the 20 years she has been an animal portrait artist. For more on the calendar and information on how to order, read my review.
From handmade Christmas cards to cat art prints, Deborah Julian’s Etsy shop is a treasure for cat lovers. Deborah’s work is inspired by her three cats George, Billy & Sam. One of my favorites is Deborah’s “Everything Tastes Better with Cat Hair In It” design.
When it comes to shoping for cat toys, Moderncat Studio’s Etsy shop is the place to go. From beds to scratchers to catnip stuffed toys, there’s something for every kitty. And best of all, 5% of all proceeds go to a different cat related charity each month. Ruby recommends the Bamboleo, Allegra favors the ModShaker. They both hope Santa brings them the Luxury Cat Bed from Decadent Digs – they even said they’d share it!
I recently introduced the healing gemstone cat collars designed and handcrafted by Fern Slack (Fern Crist, DVM). Which kitty wouldn’t be proud to wear one of these beautiful collars? Collars are also available custom made for specific health conditions, which would make a very unique and caring gift. You can find the collars, along with some beautiful jewelry for humans, in Fern’s Etsy shop.
I’d be remiss in not mentioning that Buckley’s Story makes the purrfect holiday gift for the cat lover on your list! If you’d like a personalized and autographed copy of the book as a gift, please send me an e-mail.
Oh, and don’t forget The Conscious Cat 2012 Wall calendar!
I hope you enjoyed this selection of gifts for cat lovers. Happy Holidays!

Hey! I was looking for gift ideas for pets and stumbled upon this. 🙂
We bought a cat tree last month for out three cats and one seemed to be more interested in the box! LOL.
If you haven’t seen this yet, you shoudl check it out! It’s a cat scratching post that looks like the Sears Tower! http://www.theskyscratcher.com
Thanks & Happy Holidays!!
Ingrid, Thank you for the Thanksgiving greetings! Warm wishes to you. I hope you had a lovely holiday. xo
Great gift suggestions! Especially Buckley’s Story. And what a wonderful idea to do a calendar!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, too, Ann! Yes, Allegra and Ruby decided they wanted to be calendar girls 🙂
Ingrid, thank you for all these ideas. Another suggestion is a donation to a pet rescue. What do I really need-I would sooner see a kitty be saved. Of course the munchkins will get presents.
That’s a great suggestion, Esme.
Excellent choices. Our economy would improve if everyone bought more locally produced merchandise.
I agree, Layla. I’d much rather support small businesses than shop at the big box stores. Not only do you get much nicer things, it’s also more fun to shop that way.
excellent choices!!! Particularly “Buckley’s Story” (smile)…I like seeing our kitty comrades promoted! Great job!
Thanks, Caren!
Happy Post Thanksgiving, Ingrid, Ruby and Allegra! I, too, and choosing Option B!
By the way, I just have to say that Buckley’s Story will make a great gift for EVERY animal lover. So heart-warming. And I am also loving the calendar too! Very sturdy and of course, gorgeous pictures of the gang! 🙂 Happy online shopping everyone!
Aww, thanks for the plug for Buckley’s Story, Siena. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thanks for mentioning Great Rescues, Ingrid!
My pleasure, Bernadette!
Great post. It’s always helpful to have someone show you the good stuff… Thanks.
Have a great day.
pawhugs, Max
I’m glad you like the ideas, Max.
