temporary cat tattoos

I’ll admit it: I’m a wimp when it comes to pain, so there is not a chance that I’ll ever get a real tattoo. I do, however, like the look of tastefully done tattoos, and if I ever were to get one, it would, of course, be a cat tattoo.

And thanks to Kate Benjamin’s latest venture, Cattoo Design, I was able to get my very own cat tattoo! Kate recently launched a line of temporary cat tattoos, and she sent me a few to try.

I chose the Tribal Sitting Cat and the Tribal Cat Face designs. I decided to apply the sitting cat to the outside of my leg, just above the ankle. We still had a few days that were warm enough to at least wear capri length pants, so I thought it would be a good way to show off my new tattoo.

The tattoo was super easy to apply: simply press to clean skin, hold a wet cloth against the tattoo for 30 seconds, peel off backing, rinse and voila! I was inked! I wanted to  try and get a picture of my new tattoo, but I’m not a pretzel, so I set the camera on the lowest shelf of my book case and used the self timer. What I didn’t realize was that Ruby and Allegra were behind me, watching intently. Don’t you just love how this photo turned out?

I was surprised how long the tattoo lasted. I put it on on last Monday. It lasted until Friday. Even with daily showers and shaving my leg, it still looked really nice by the fifth day. I got lots of compliments on the tattoo, and most people were surprised when I told them that it was fake.

To purchase the tattoos, please visit Cattoo Design. At $5 for a pack of two tattoos, these make great stocking stuffers for the cat lover on your list. They would also make a fun insert to send along with birthday or holiday cards – they don’t weigh much, so there wouldn’t even be a need for extra postage.

And we’re giving away two free tattoos to one lucky winner – winner gets to choose the designs! To enter the giveaway, please share the following in a comment: if you have a tattoo, please tell us where and what it is. If you don’t have a tattoo, tell us whether you would consider getting one, and what kind? For an additional chance to win, tweet about this giveaway or share on Facebook and leave the link in a separate comment. For yet another chance to win, like Cattoo Designs on Facebook and tell us in a separate comment that you did. This giveaway ends Tuesday, November 1.

  1. I have liked Cattoo Design’s page. I have two tiny hearts tattooed near my belly button and one heart ona vine curling around the outside of my left ankle. I would really like to get some more tattoos but I don’t know what to get or where to put them. LOL! They say they are addicting, I believe it!
If I were to win the cat tattoos, I would proudly wear them!!

    Thank you

  2. I have a tattoo of a cat standing on its hind legs reaching up to the sky with a paw. I had it done 10 years ago, it’s on my lower back. I want to get another cat tattoo in the near future, but I would looooooooove the temporary ones as well!!!! Pick me!

  3. Had considered getting a lady dragon tat, but the cost was pretty much prohibitive. A temporary tat would be great cause I have a skin disease that makes me itch everywhere, and I’m not looking forward to having something permanent until that goes away. Thanks Would love it. I have 3 kittees and a grandson who isn’t happy at the moment, but he likes to watch ’em (at 4 months).

  4. I would never get a tattoo, but the temporaries are SWEET! I had a customer once who tattooed one of my cat-t-shirt designs on her arm!!! Sent me a pic, too funny! I hope I win!

  5. I have a tattoo on my right leg just above the ankle. It’s of a teddy bear that I use on my business cards. It took me 6 months to design it and get up enough nerve to have it done. I’m thinking of adding a kitty or 2 to the same leg.

  6. I don’t have a tattoo, but I love temporary options. If I got a permanent one, it would be of my favourite furgirl.

  7. I do have a cattoo on my ankle of my travel companion, my soul-mate, my everything – my Baker who I lost 5-6-08. I still miss him every day.
Like some of the other posters, I have a 17 year old tortie who I would like to get a cattoo of on my other ankle. She and I have helped each other through illnesses (her almost fatal one), a major auto accident (we were both in the car), and 4 surgeries (mine). Being a tortie, she’s VERY opinionated and I love every opinion she has.

  8. No tattoos for me, to date, as I’m a complete wuss when it comes to pain. I have thought about the ‘Cat Mom’ tattoo though ever since seeing these adorable designs and would put one on my shoulder if I ever decided to get one as I think I read somewhere (once upon a time) that the shoulder area hurts the least.

  9. I am 62 years old and just got my first tattoo about 2 months ago. It is a little footprint with a cock-eyed big toe. Under that is the nickname JUJU. This is the national symbol of Down’s Syndrome, and it was done in tribute to our honorary grandson, Julian. Juju is one year old and he is a little love bug. My second tatt was done about 3 weeks ago, and it is a Raincross. This is the official symbol of my town, Riverside, California. My third will be a tribal band using the initials of my 2 grandsons who live far away and we rarely get to see. My fourth will be a portrait of my two adorable cats, Toby and MItzi. I never thought I would ever get ONE tattoo, much less four, at my age, but like everyone says, when you get one, you’re hooked.

  10. I have a Hand of Fatima (aka Hand of Miriam or Hamsa) on my upper back. It’s grey with a red paw print in the middle to represent my love of kitties and a “J” to honor my sister who passed from cancer. It took me about four years to find the right design and I had a GREAT tattoo artist do it for me. I got it on my back because I was afraid of getting sick of it if I saw it all the time. I can show it when I want and hide it when I want. Here is a link to it: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150414887935926.424702.687385925&type=1&l=9ea0c7157a

  11. no tattoos…yet. but I love the idea of a tattoo in honor of a cherished feline companion. temporary tats are a great way to test run the size & location of a possible tattoo, so I would love to win this!

  12. I have 4 and plan on at least 5 more. I am getting one for every kitteh in my life and I already have one of them. It’s a line drawing of a curled up cat and it’s a between my collar-bone and my shoulder. I also have a frog on my back and the lead alligator from ‘Dance of the Hours’ in the original Fantasia with some flowers and vine-work on my stomach.

  13. I actually have 5 tattoos, 4 of which are Memorial tattoos. One for my Mom (on my back), one for my greyhound (on my shoulder), one for a cat that passed (on my inside ankle), and one for a cat that disappeared (on my thigh). I plan on honoring all of my cats with a tattoo…I have found that it helps with the healing!

  14. These are awesome. I do not have any tatoos because like Ingrid I’m not fond of needles. If I did have one it would probably be Celtic inspired. Maybe some sort of design that incorporated a cat and Celtic knot work. I love temp tatoos though! These look great!

  15. no tattoos here… same as you I can’t imagine going through the pain, nor can I imagine that there is a design I want to stick with me for the rest of my life.

Love the photo.. it did come out really nice.

  16. I don’t have a tattoo and would not get a permanent one (I am also averse to pain), but I just ordered several temporary ones from Cattoo Designs after seeing your great pic in this newsletter!! Love Allegra and Ruby watching intently; that’s the same look I get from my cats when they think I am doing something interesting that might be a toy!! Cats Rule!!

  17. I have been thinking about getting a tattoo of a black cat on my ankle, but have not mustered up the courage. These temporary tats would be perfect. I love the sitting cat and the paw print.

  18. I don’t have a tattoo, but I would consider it…maybe next year for my 60th birthday. I would certainly get a cat, perhaps some representation of my classic tabby, Jasper, who passed away four years ago at the age of fifteen. Even though I now share my life with the ever-amusing mackerel tabby, Tucker, Jasper was, and always shall be, the Cat Of My Heart…

  19. Yes, I have a tortoiseshell tattoo on my ankle, it was drawn by my sister, an artist. The tortie is my Twinkles who died 9 years ago, stomach cancer. My sister has the same tattoo, but she didn’t get hers colored, hers is shaded. I also have a tattoo on my right upper arm of one of my pics of a coneflower with a bee on it, as I love photography and flowers.

  20. I actually don’t have any tattoos but am debating getting one for my 40th birthday. I think I would like to get a cat fairy.
